Positions beyond capabilities

Have there ever been more people here who are in positions way beyond their capabilities? I doubt it. In some cases the gap between their capabilities and the work they perform is so great that it is sad to watch. I wouldn’t care if it didn’t jeopardize the jobs of people who really deserved to be in their positions.

There are three ways to get promoted.

  1. You are a crawler and toady to management.
  1. You are a good Union Rep and HR wants you on their side.
  1. You are useless on the tools and management want you off the tools before break something else that's really expensive.

Look around you and you'll see examples litter the place you work in.

I can't think of a leader more deserving of being placed on a PIP plan 3 days into his administration.

Disagree. A lot of dead wood left and it takes a little time for a new generation to bed in. Lots of talent that will be running the company for the next 20 years.

Not sure how to interpret - are you saying people's skills are Under-utilized in CVX?
Or management skills are over-recognized?

Just wait - ExxonMobil merger will make this seem like a pony show.
