As an investor, I have to ask. He failed quickly when in charge of Warner Media. Randell was removed (long time over due). Is the executive talent pool at T so thin that John is the future of T?

He guts the company, destroys the culture and then says he's not satisfied with the brand? It's your brand, dude. The current state of the company is 100% your doing, especially since you were calling the shots well before Randall "retired".
Man up and own your actions, John Stankey. You don't get to blow it up and say I don't like what it looks like.
Read: I, Claudius. that is all you need to know.
The Stink will only leave when his BoD minions provide him with a Diamond Parachute for him to bail - overloading the Stinks bank account with hundred of millions more!
They'll wait until after the dividend cut next year. Remember, the dividend goes down by half when Time Warner leaves. The stock price will take a beating for that and no one wants the new CEO to start off with that failure.
He is about to turn 60 and the mandatory retirement age is 65. He probably will not stay quite that long. It makes sense for him to finish selling off assets (including the 70% of DIRECTV still owned) and finish the pivot to a mobility and broadband company. If I had to bet, I’d say he retires at the end of 2025, which is when the company said it will have doubled our fiber footprint. Then a new CEO would come in with - presumably - greater financial flexibility to make the next pivot … whatever that is.
So Stnky played the Yes man to RS
RS set up a "survivor" contest between Donovan and Stankey. One day RS, decreed that Stankey has "won".
Donovan immediately retired.
So Stnky played the Yes man to RS , so that he gets the top job and then undoing what RS did!
Stankey will be pushed out next year. Look for some big changes around April.
Stankey is the CEO because that's what the Elliot group wanted. Elliot realized it was going to take too long to get a profit out of T and left, but Stankey is doing what they advised the BOD was needed. Stankey is just desperately holding onto power - why else do you think he would make the stupid cartoon video or the last video with the different outfits. He is fighting for his job, but once the sales of WarnerMedia goes through Stankey will probably be gone.
What talent pool? Stanley has no incentive to develop talents because they are threats to his dominance. Just watch his body language while referring to another executive whether they are in the room or not. Meanwhile, the executive rank is full of spineless a-s kissers. The last hire was Jason Kilar, that should tell you something.
Stankey is CEO because he is in total control. The BOD is powerless, and as long as they get their perks and retainers they will do what Stankey wants!!
It’s always the simplest explanation, ego maniacs can never admit they are wrong and in this case neither can his enablers (the board). So here we are with a once mighty company hemorrhaging at every front and no one willing to admit they messed up big time and take their golden parachute and move on with their bald sad life. The guy was never even a telecom guy to begin with let alone a media genius and the same with Ratty who majored in jerking off cows. T has missed the boat, with the fed on the verge of no longer propping up the economy and T stock never really taking advantage of the fake stock market rallies it’s over. Single digit price here we come. You gotta be a fool to have held on to the stock or even buying, short this su---r and wait for it to do a dead cat bounce as a meme stock before you are complete out the game.
Because they told him to sell off all the media garbage and satellites and keep the lights on as a Telco and he is doing that.
So he's doing what they want done, for now at least.
