Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

WTG SAMS CLUB

Congratulations Sam's. You have succeeded in making your associates even more disgusted. The BS from CEO about making employees feel valued and retention. Wanting them to climb the Corporate ladder is all BS. now with more than half of long time employees making less than, or equal to new hires by either dropping their pay or not giving raise you will force the loyal "so called valued associates " right out the door. But, that was the plan all along

Sam Walton is rolling in his grave. Not what his vision was for his company.

Why makes no sense, why we should not get a raise anymore, we worked to get where we are and now that they figured that if they get rid of us they will save money, think again you have to have people that care to work in this place. People that don’t half way do things and could care less.
Tell me why you would cut the cap back on back room associates and raise forklift drivers pay, what do we do all day drive a forklift and receive freight if we don’t get it done the other associates have nothing to do. We are responsible for making sure it’s unloaded and received right and slotted in the steel correctly. I guess we should start acting like the rest of the associates who don’t care. Maybe the team leads should have to unload there stuff and make sure it gets put up.
Our job in tales more than most know, who fixes all the problems we have on the things that come in wrong and spend countless hours trying to get things corrected with home office and vendors.
Kath you need to sit down and talk to some of the back room associates and find out about day to day happenings , you have no idea.

It will create an atmosphere of mediocrity. Gold badge Associates will no longer be willing to go above and beyond, They will no longer be willing to train the new associates. There is no incentive and no company loyalty towards long term associates. It is sad. So I will go to work, do my job and leave on time even if tasks are completed or not. Sc--w it. Way to go Kath. Way to go.

I’ve been with the company for 7 years and my manager told me that I wouldn’t be receiving a raise of any kind.

Are all top out pays being raised, or no?

What bothered me most, as a long term associate, is the wording that was used telling me of my new pay. Walmart is investing in the future, retaining those that are good workers. It really struck me when I realized that this is the last raise I will ever get. I am still healthy, still able to work better than the newer associates, probably because I care to much. It's nice to get a raise, of course, but those that have been with the company for over 25 years should have been rewarded more.

I wanted to say something a week ago about how there's nothing for the long term associate to stay or even really any new hires . No more Sam's share ( going away) , people coming off the street making more or equal to what a person that has been there for 5+ yrs is ridiculous. If I was looking for a new job I would go down the street to a place they have a sign on bonus. If Sam's think they will get people to stay, they are out of touch. Two weeks ago we had two people quit to go else where for sign on bonuses and making 5.00 more than Sam's. I tell people all the time not to work for Sam's if you have a good work ethic you need to run. Sam's allows the young ones to run the club even though they do not work. If you can get along with 20 somethings texting and talking but tell you what to do then Sam's club is for you ,oh and they make more than you . Good luck to all.

People who have stayed on over 5 years should receive a massive retention bonus. For every person who leaves, it seems we see about 4 others hired for that position within a year. It costs money to hire people, that money would be better spent to retain those who are actually worth it.

100% Agree with this post!!! It infuriates me to no end!!! This corporation has been overlooking their long term associates for years and years but this is the ultimate slap in the face!!! We are the ones who have been around through thick and thin. We have been "displaced" several times and yet we STILL stayed with the company!! Where is our raise? Where is our thanks? Disgusted indeed.
