Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Thoughts On USB Requesting Personal Info

So, I know it's best to leave USB as quickly as possible. I've had multiple people retire early and tell me to leave immediately. I've noticed they've started insisting on having personal information, vaccine status as well as personal contact info added to your accounts as a "backup". I'm curious what your thoughts are on this. Is this just one more reason to leave ASAP?

C19 has been fascinating for me. I never realized how many of my employees appear not to have passed high school biology. How do people work here with such a low baseline level of knowledge about the world?

You might want to contain your enthusiasm for masks, distancing, tests and vax. You might report to a boss like me, who will use those comments to conclude you aren't bright enough to be a USB employee.

Every time you announce someone "had covid" or "died of covid" or "masks protect" or "Vax is safe and effective," please realize there are more educated people at you at the bank. And they will not hesitate to make sure you are laid off. They won't tell you why.

Polio vaccines were once controversial too. That's the point in discussing the COVID vaccine in this thread. The people who are paranoid about this vaccine are paranoid about a lot of things. It kind of goes with the territory. Once upon a time, you could apply for a job without a dr-g screen. When companies started requiring them there were lots of people complaining this was an invasion of privacy. Nowadays everyone expects to be dr-g tested if they apply for any job. Employers have required emergency contact information for a hundred years. This current controversy will pass with time.

Stop polluting the thread with pointless off-topic discussions about the vaccine efficiency, OP asked a completely different question.

Regarding the questions OP asked, I can see why one may be worried about providing a personal contact info, but simply can’t understand how is providing a vaccination status to anyone a privacy issue. None of us wasn’t worried about our kids privacy when giving their polio vaccination status to schools.

To all those who are concerned about the research behind the COVID 19 Vaccinations...

All vaccines, medications and procedures carry a certain amount of risk. That does not mean the majority of patients do not benefit from having them. Natural Health News is notorious for publishing fear po-n articles against anything they are not selling or advertising. I am sure some of the claims are true but until all other possible factors are ruled out, I would not assume the vaccine was the cause. Many people experience psychosomatic illness when they believe the vaccine causes certain maladies. And for others, the vaccine may trigger latent symptoms. These factors do not negate the effectiveness or overall benefits of vaccinations. The fewer people who contract a virus, the less opportunity the virus has to mutate.

It is easy to get sucked into conspiracy theories when it is apparent we are not privy to the whole truth much of the time. I too was skeptical about the COVID vaccines until I learned about the years of research that preceded the development. Scientists have been concerned about these kinds of viruses mutating from animals to humans for a very long time. Much of the research comes out of the AIDS epidemic.

I love the immediate reactions calling me HR or politically controlled! I'm the person who had the guts to tell the bank that tellers and all staff should be paid a living wage back in 2016 on the survey and brought it up in follow up meetings with managers.

I have listened to a lot of alternative news theories and I do not trust either party to give a rat's tail about the people. Since political parties and so called, government agencies are independent corporations, the only real mandate they follow is profit. That's the bottom line.

COVID is not a we---n of mass death from China or some Satanic pedophile conspiracy club. The vaccines for this type of virus were not developed in a few months to answer this crisis. The technology has been decades in the making through world wide government funded university lab studies. Scientists knew these viruses would be catastrophic when (not if) they spread to large population centers. Unless you are a student of vaccine science throughout history, you have no business rejecting their safety or efficacy. I question the ever growing vaccine schedule advised for children but I do not question the need for children to be protected from preventable diseases like Smallpox, Measles, Rubella, Polio and Mumps. My Mother was a nurse during the Polio epidemic and she told me about the wards of children in iron lungs. She also told me how many children died or who had shortened lives because they had other childhood diseases we had all but eliminated in this country.

I remember when factories were full of men who made enough money to support a family, live middle class lives and trust they would receive a good pension upon retirement. We gave all that up when we took that for granted and assumed corporations would keep that up without pressure from workers and consumers. Now we are reaping the harvest of buying into the corporate meritocracy propaganda. Instead of pension plans we let employers tell us we could choose where our money was invested with 401k plans. Instead of women earning equal pay, they managed to pay both men and women comparably less than workers in the 1970's did on minimum wage. How did that happen?

People used to think about others and consider what would be best for the community, country and the world when they were asked to get a vaccine to slow the spread of infectious disease. Now it's all about "me" and my freedom to choose. I think we are at the point with COVID where people who refuse to get a vaccine because their religious belief says that it's God's will; should stay home. Instead they are out offering themselves as Petri dishes for further variant mutations. How many of the "Never Vaccers" are making videos from their hospital beds, as they are gasping for breath; telling everyone else they were wrong about getting the vaccine?

Don't make snap judgments about people and their agendas. Ask questions and don't assume that everyone does what someone tells them. Take the time to research all sides and make your own choices. But please don't think you have the right to cost others (like your coworkers or employer) by spreading a contagion or draining the health care system because of those choices.

Anyone who refuses to mask up, take a test or take the vaccine after the Biden mandate can leave. You have a choice. Go find another job where you're not required to do so. It will be nice going back to the office knowing that the people around me are either having weekly tests or are vaccinated. Too many employees either got sick while in the office or knows someone who was critically ill or died. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

To use something uttered by Biden which is illegal and unconstitutional is as d-mb and senile as he is. Also makes me think you are some sort of USB HR or mole on this board.

So folks who think USB is overstepping their bounds...read this article on the new OSHA regulations that Biden announced yesterday after I posted the long response below.

Leaving USB feels so good, ex-employees never come back. No ex-employee regrets leaving.

To answer the initial post,....yes LEAVE AS SOON AS HUMANLY possible. USB is a horrible 'woke' organization with pathetic people in charge (they should never be referred to as "leaders" because they are not).

Since I'm not there any more; I'm not sure what you mean by personal info on your "accounts." It used to be that your Home Office record in Asset Manager required both business, cell and home telephone numbers so that you could be contacted in the event a Service Center employee needed to reach you. With the rush to get home offices set up in 2020, corners were cut. They may be trying to close those gaps. Also, USB may be having trouble with people not returning equipment when they terminate employment. Managers have always submitted personal contact information updates annually to HR.

Recent employee deaths may have something to do with the vaccine status questions. One of my former managers was hospitalized for 6 weeks and died last Sunday from COVID. He was not vaccinated. He held an important position in TOS and his long illness and subsequent passing have left a huge gap. His medical expenses along with the risk his absence creates, is a huge, unnecessary cost for USB. The company is probably putting a lot of due diligence into the legality of requiring employees to get COVID vaccinations to prevent further losses and interruption. Health Insurance rates will go up for all employees because they are based on the prior year expenses. COVID continues to mutate and doctors are predicting it will be an ongoing problem (like the Flu) that will need to be managed. Replacing experienced pivotal staff at all levels is expensive and there is a shortage of technology candidates. It doesn't help that USB is so quick to send employees from everywhere but TOS to conventions and training...but I digress. Eventually you will need to provide proof of vaccinations along with your standard dr-g and background checks for employment. It's simply too risky for the bottom line otherwise.
