Helpful Training or Yet One More Thing to Do?

I get it, leadership feels they are helping us grow by giving us more avenues to educate ourselves. But many of us have 3 or 4 other areas that enforce mandatory "leadership" training etc. No one reduces our workload to be able to accommodate these initiatives. So we are left holding the bag. 1 more mandatory module weekly for some of us IS a big deal.

Are they willing to take a 3% productivity hit from us to accommodate? If that is unacceptable then why should we feel this isn't another straw on a breaking camel's back?

Lazy and cheap leadership. Accelerator is a bunch of garbage. If it wasn't Leaders would be rolling it to managers in meetings, actually explain what the intent is and managers would be required to hold session with their employees. As it is - "All right guys, make sure you go in and click the button and do some modules"

The training is condescending and waste of time. It was really embarrassing to have asked my team to attend that meeting, only to have it be a collection of the worst corporate speak yet. That was a lot of koolaid that gen y/z will not drink. (Nor will this millennial.)

Training is solely to reduce company liability exposure. Doesn't have a blasted thing to do with improving you.

The hit on your personal time stinks if you do the training above and beyond your normal job. But, if you see it as an investment in furthering your career (inside or outside of HON), take advantage of any technical or useful training you can. It's a rare opportunity given how much useless, nontransferable traing gets shoved at you.

Most training is designed to ward off unions, and little else.

Required training is nothing new. We did it for years without decrease in workload. Maybe. ...get off your phone and the Internet occasionally and work. Then you might get something done.

One more thing to use as an excuse to hand out a PIP:

”Employee demonstrates steady state behavior, does not meet acceleration standards”

Live by the behaviour of ‘Going Beyond’ your working hours to complete your trainings regardless if there are sacrifices that you have to make to get it done. You’ll still have to ‘Be Committed’ to exceed all goals.

The online garbage is valueless, in one ear and out the other.
