Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T joint Ventures with a looser?

I guess the Stink could not buy another company to ruin, so does the next worse thing, teams up with a freshly bankrupt company instead of teaming with a winner - Musk:

AT&T Inc. will use OneWeb’s low-earth orbit satellites to offer broadband to businesses in remote areas, in the British-backed venture’s first deal with a big U.S. phone company.

OneWeb is racing against Elon Musk’s rival Starlink system to offer internet to consumers and businesses in regions of the world where terrestrial fixed and wireless connections aren’t profitable. Both are striking up partnerships with telecommunication companies to reach critical mass.

==> OneWeb was rescued from bankruptcy last year by Britain’s government and Indian billionaire Sunil Mittal, and aims to offer services in northern latitudes by the end of this year. The partnership with AT&T follows deals with Britain’s BT Group Plc and Canada’s Northwestel Inc.

The stink, as you call him, he’s experimenting with his company just like his predecessor who should’ve fired himself along time ago. They keep buying and selling so that there’s never a real full accounting of the success or non-success of the overall giant.

With AT&T turning back to their core business, any agreements that make it possible to expand on delivering the pipe to as many paying customers as possible is not a bad thing.

@2ysh+1cJBjuod Don't be ridiculous. AT&T revenue 176B, profit 91B. Tesla revenue 41B, profit 9B.

LEO is a really small market when you look at it, outside of a few rural folks, and marine, your're not going to see any real revenues that move the needle. ITs really a small market.. it seems big, but in the greater context its not

It isn't philosophy, it is the facts. Metro customers can't get fiber, suburb and rural customers can't get real broadband. Meanwhile, Stankey went on record to shoot down municipal broadband and declared existing infrastructure is working just fine. It is awesome marketing strategy, pi-s off the customers first, then sell them services. I'm sure the return on investment will be huge.

If Stankey thinks his "premium" company is too good to service rural areas, then have the ba--s get out of of the market segment.

@aqm+1cJBjuod How are they hypocrites? It's not a philosophical debate. They are a business. Return on investment matters.

On one hand, no one in rural markets will need broadband, on the other hand, let's sale satellite internet service to them. This company is run by hypocrites.

"I'm sure AT&T got a decent deal with little downside."

Yeah, 'cause AT&T has a history of decent deals with little downside. Bwahhaha.

The company filed bankruptcy in March 2020 after covid hit and Softbank pulled the $2 billion they were going to invest. You can't exactly blame them for not wanting to risk money during a market collapse. They had to find new investors, which they did. I'm not sure why you care. I'm sure AT&T got a decent deal with little downside.
