What’s going on people with headcount reductions? Way too many worthless opinions on Covid as though we’re not sick enough just hearing all the fake news about this and that! Let’s talk layoff news...

This outfit is going to have to change radically in a pro employee way for me to
recommend any person of character to
work here. Therefore the quality of people employed will gradually degrade
Does it really matter anymore? They will continue to use "aligned with the market" bs to keep pay low, max out tenured to force them to retire, and hire more cheap labor on the backend that will stay a few years and leave as is the trend. They are selling off pieces of everything, so more reorgs mean shedding people. This company can just keep paying me to work at home. I will continue to do quality work from 8-4 M-F, but not one second longer of my time will go to Satan's phone company.
I'll let you know on September 16 :

I know, we’re so busy that I really love getting paid to sit around doing nothing most days per week. One work order per day per technician makes for a great job. Orders usually takes 2-3 hours, then done for the day. Great job if you can get it!
We are short people, we have a lot of new business, we are hiring like crazy. It is hard doing video interviews (well I am not used to it).
Legg org is hiring people - IT

Hi
I’m pretty sure the goal for new hires will be to bring them in at the low end of the pay band with the lower benefits now in place.
ATT will continue to purge the existing employee base. It's not nearly woke enough and the demographics don't play nice with BLM and Antifa.
If the C-Suite wants to continue to get paid millions$ to fail, they don't need these rent-a-mob leftists harassing them and their families. They will continue to pander and bow.
Look for a huge influx of green-card indentured servants in 2022. Don't worry, the US taxpayers are the backstop if things get really bad. Crony-Capitalism all the way.
My group, just hired someone effective 9.15 to backfill a person that has yet to leave the payroll.
Not so sure layoffs are coming to my department.
All the same, I'm punching out, MY STYLE, in December
Business Services will prolly be hiring considering the continuing sharp decline in work they have.
Too many people are leaving. No layoffs in sight.
We're actively backfilling retirees and adding additional headcount.
I assume the usual small amount of reductions in legacy telephone, where a substantial proportion will be dealt with by people leaving voluntarily. There will be offers to get people to leave.
Meanwhile, AT&T is hiring.

Starting to see movement within backfilling etc, don't see layoffs even being viable at this point they might be hiring especially engineers.
Well we're down 25% since July and that's just with people quitting.
Agree 100% with @vgl+1cEuMWM6 - plus the Stink wants to see how many people refuse to get jabbed so he can summarily fire them for free!
I also suspect the Stink has new ideas from HR Blondie bombshells ready to announce in December to incentivize more US employees to leave so he can send more jobs to India and buy a new corporate jet. Merry Christmas!
They will review at the end of November how many have announced their retirement. Then make a decision on what areas need further reductions and they will likely leave end of Q1 2022. Until the end of November they won’t know the impact to teams and organisations.
