Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Why people are leaving

Lots of reasons. Take your pick:

  • Lots of jobs available out there
  • Many jobs that offer permanent wfh or work-from-anywhere, if that’s your preference
  • For those in CTC or a support function, fed up with the unworkable operating model
  • Desire to escape an industry in decline
  • Belief that the company isn’t doing enough or working fast enough to address climate change
  • Tired of the same old, same old rhetoric about how different we are now when nothing helpful has actually changed

Perfectly said, @rxs+1cAUhnY0.

Unless you're an EE with transferable skills, knoe a ~10 year employee that doubled his salary going to Google.

Chevron petrotech until I took the package last December. Got another job making 26% more than I was at Chevron, with half the corporate politics. Shame on me for thinking that I was paid well all those years at Chevron.

Operators and maint folks can be easily replaced. More then enough retirees that would come back for easy money

The tables have turned, petrotechs are sitting around wishing they could leave as well, even if it was for the same money!

I don’t know about you, but I only work because of the salary. Every time I have switched companies it has been for at least a 20% bump. Anything less doesn’t make sense as you can get it at CVX without much trouble.

Leave? Why leave when WFH affords more than enough opportunity to run a business or start one on CVX dime?

Exactly. This false thinking reflect the id--ts left bringing the company down. SMH.

Deadwood? Are you serious??? Hahahahahaha! The people leaving (not retiring) are getting better jobs with higher salaries. The deadwood is staying right here and getting paid to do nothing!

What function? What do they do? HR? IT? Supply Chain?

Everyone I know has left for money. Most went for 20-30% raise. One lady got over 50%. Hot market.

Richmond refinery is seeing a huge exit of talent in the FE space. I know of many Process Engineers, Control System Engineers, and Process Control Engineers that have resigned in the past 3 months.

Not many in Chevron with petrotech background are leaving unless retiring. Not many jobs out there with same pay. Chevron is not that bad.
