PTO and Medical

What happens to my remaining PTO when I quit? Do they get paid out? Or is it better to take them as my last 2 weeks of notice?

If my last day is Oct 1, does Medical/Dental benefit immediately ends of does it go up to Oct 31st? TIA

The answers to your questions are in the employee handbook and benefits book.

One extra thing. COBRA is VERY expensive. Think before you up and quit.

Yes, your PTO is accrued and unused is added to your last check. but if you work it so your last day is the 1st of the month, that month of PTO will also be paid to you and your insurance will go to the end of that month, not immediately like stated above. If possible make your last day the first week of a month to sc--w them as much as you can. Be sure to take all personal and floating holidays before you leave. They are yours on January 1st but don’t get paid to you if you leave.

why ask this question here as opposed to calling HR and waiting on hold for 5 hours

Your medical benefits end at the end of the month. So if your last day is the 12th, you are covered until the very end of that month. You will also get info from HR about the option to continue benefits through COBRA if you want to do that.
All this info is in the benefits book which you can access from TeamWorks.

Make sure you only take what you’ve accrued. What is your balance in Time tracker is misleading — it doesn’t show what you’ve accrued but rather a balance for the entire year. Otherwise after you quit you’ll get a bill. That happened to me. Yup. We can pay Chain Saw a huge salary but they came after me for five days of PTO.

Yes, you lose medical and also your paycheck. If WF had a decent HR function, people wouldn't need to ask these questions on They Layoff.

In general, your remaining prorated PTO will be paid out to you. If you leave in Sep for example, you will get 9/12 of your total PTO less taken.

You don't lose any accrued (but untaken) PTO. It's paid out. What you do "lose" is PTO you haven't accrued yet, which makes perfect sense.

Once your manager has entered your termination, both of you will receive a termination checklist that answers these questions. Teamworks has general policies around terminations, and some LOBs have more strict rules so you should check with your manager about your PTO.

You lose your remaining PTO and medical ends immediately.

Go to team works, you can find all your answers there. I know, they don't make it easy, but you can find it.
