Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Another HR resignation

Rumor is that another HR person that survive the Transformation will be leaving Chevron soon. Maybe not a big leader leaving, but a sign that the HR community are an unhappy group with many open to new outside opportunities. More and more think there is life after Chevron and they may be right.

Do people laid off posting on the layoffs site generally get all concerned about who is resigning from the positions that they have now at the company that they just left? Shouldn't you be more concerned about your own employment?

@3pjq Naw, will prolly replace with a HRDP grad (who is undeserving and unqualified) mainly since they keep losing so many HRDP people. Only peeps who advance in HR are HRDP or are a RM favorite.

Happy Friday. I look forward to receiving your resignation letter on Monday. Can’t wait to see you go so I can replace you with a more deserving and qualified internal or external candidate. Regards, your supervisor.

They dont care. More consultants means they are more valuable. Leave without a severance and they will spin it as how they saved the company money.

Hello there,

I cannot keep up anymore. How many HR people have resigned since January? I swear I thought we didn’t have an attrition problem…

I had very little interaction with HR in all my years at CVX, this is in contrast to some other places I have worked.

To me that is a sign of a well functioning support function, you don’t even know it’s there!

Its funny that people always throw stones at others functions. Especially functions that they do not understand what they actually do. The reason Chevron can get good HR talent isnt just money. Its the fact that Chevron realizes how important a good HR department is. Or at least they used to. Get ready for terrible service for the organization and many more lawsuits.

HR staff from any other company or industry are instantly interchangeable with Chevron HR. We could replace the whole function tomorrow with minimal impact to the business. If anything, salaries should be further reduced.

Did you ever think that the OP’s “deplorable” grammar was to help hide who they are? When very few people are aware of something, it can be easy to narrow down who spilled the beans on The Layoff. Masking one’s writing style is one way to stay under the radar, you d*uchebag.

I'm not even in HR but have had overall good experiences with my HR business partner. As an outsider I always felt sorry for my business partner seeing how messed up the HR managers are and how it was clear she was doing her bosses job for them. It was usually evident when the HRBP was out for any extended time and the manager had to write their own emails and make their own decks. I have also seen the HR VP in town halls and wow no wonder the HR people are wanting to leave. Not really what anyone would call an inspirational leader. For any HR person who is good, I say good luck to you and run very far away.

It’s cute that HR thinks they matter. The whole lot of you could leave tomorrow and no one would miss you.

Can I just say that some of the comments here are troll-ish. First they are not "contractors" they are "consultants" - sounds like you are trying to play off an earlier post where OP talked about all the consultants that HR likes to pay for. And then the "recruiting with other firms" comment. Did you mean to say "being recruited by search firms"? Unless you are British, an attorney, or a business school text book, no one really refers to a company as a "firm". And OP, the grammar in your post is deplorable. I do however like the comment about TP. So true! Hello, sellout. A bigger person would have cut bait and left during Transformation but here you are, replacing quite possibly one of the laziest SOBs CVX HR had ever seen (if that is even possible).
Now, am I doubting the general theme here which is how HR seems to be having a serious morale and retention problem? No. That is not fake news or alternative facts but sadly the reality in Chevron HR. Thanks a bunch, RM. What do you think of the attrition now since you declared at the last people and culture call that "we don't have an attrition problem". The whole company maybe not but what about your own house?

Dfx....knives are out. Is that why HR is so intent on jamming diversity down our throat. You have "implict bias too"?

Will be very interesting to see who gets selected for the growing number of open jobs in the Fall HR PDC and also who gets promoted.

All of these people leaving have been jerked around by Chevron management. The last 4 should be 2 levels higher based on competency. Notice how none of them are white males? White males get over promoted and shown the door (unless your TP, then you keep your cushy job and get demoted). Now they have a team of contractors covering their flaws.

This is getting uglier every week. Every HR manager and GM should be scared of Mondays. Seems all notices are on Monday mornings. High quality people are leaving and they need to stop the bleeding. How many more consultants are acceptable?

I directly know of 4 people seriously recruiting with other firms. Some are very close to accepting offers others are being very selective (maybe too selective). If Chevron cares, they need to act now and not wait for PDC cycle.

There is supposed to be another one too but it’s more second- or third-hand knowledge at this time so I can’t confirm.
