Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mass exodus from WFC

I had a job interview this morning for a position at another company. The recruiter told me that I am the 23rd from Wells that she interviewed, since last week. She asked me what's the deal with WFC, why the mass exodus. The good thing is that there's so many other job opportunities these days, companies are actively hiring. I have 3 more interviews this week for other companies and it's so exciting. The one this morning pays a lot more than WFC, and to my fellow competitors from Wells, cheers to you too!

Job market is picking up! I am overwhelmed with interviews at the moment and I can't thank Wells enough, other employers still value Wells apparently. The recruiter who interviewed me this morning told me that she's getting a lot of applicants from BofA too. Power on people, it's time to move!

I can tell you I work with multiple JPM people. They are nothing special. They came from and established bank that just ran. No foundational understanding how any of this actually works so they will not fix anything. Many I cracking too and starting to run scared saying they have never seen anything like this place.

You don’t have to lie or be PC. I told recruiters there had been a lot of changes in the executive team causing a lot of upheaval and uncertainty/anxiety, they wanted to lay off a quarter of the workforce, and I thought it was a good idea to keep my options open and see what was available.

Not backhanded at all. I'm sincere in every way possible in that post. The higher ups only care about reducing headcount and saving severance costs. They have targets, people that leave voluntarily help us get closer to those targets and very well may be saving someone else's job. Not in all cases, obviously, if there's a LOB that the company is going to sell/shut down it won't make a difference, but in some cases it will and i appreciate those that are willing / interested in doing it. I want to stay, and I do appreciate it!

As someone that wants to stay, I wish every person that is looking elsewhere the best of luck. You very well may be saving someone else's job!

People from JPM get hired at exorbitant salaries, so they can come to WF to reinvent the wheel and be with all their former JPM colleagues. WF doesn't hire WF people because we're not as cultured or savvy as them fancy folks from New York City.

Mine had heard but was floored when I talked about the lottery layoff with no comms or plsn alignment.

His words: "That sounds kinda toxic"

Yez sir it is.

I got the job btw. Great culture and pay with a 401 that actually gets investments more than once a year.

That has not been my experience. Recruiters seem to be clueless about the layoffs happening at Wells Fargo.

What’s the deal? Tell her because WF is too funny to work for. Can’t stop laughing at work.

I never want to work at another bank, ever again, after this place. The first and last.

My friend used her production numbers at wells to get a huge offer from a competitor. She ended up taking all her clients and wf was left with less talent and fewer clients. Keep up the good work, WF!

Good I hope all the skilled employees leave for greener pastures and prosper, and then Wells Fargo goes belly up. Then the shareholders can sue Charlie and BOD for running it in to the ground. This place is a joke.

Yes, WF is making a name for itself, its truly embarrassing to work here.

People from JPM are coming from WFC and why not WFC > JPM (upgrade!). Why are people from JPM downgrading.

I think companies use the term “actively hiring” to lull us into believing they hire quickly and never ghost candidates like those “inactive” hirers.

Is there such a thing as inactively hiring? Go ahead and cross "detail oriented" off the skills list OP.

Just messing with ya man, good luck out there.

A former WF colleague at another Financial Services company in SF told me nearly every digital product manager at Wells applied to a job posted there recently. He also predicted a mass exodus is at hand.
