Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

We are still the best

We might have our flaws but we still beat all our competition by a mile. Look at what we did to Exxon! So stop being babies and do your jobs for which you are well paid and receive good benefits. I can't understand how so many people are not able to recognize a good thing when they have it.

Chevron was 'miles ahead' of the competition last around 2005. Since then the company has gone into a technical stall and has de-incentivized technical career development, while flooding the roster with tax attorneys and HR. All made worse by MW's cost-cutting on quality and throwing money at social engineering. Don't mention the Permian basin, that was the luck of an acreage position rather than any technical prowess. Permian will be done by 2030 anyways - has it actually made money at any point, anyways?

We certainly aren't beating Exxon at finding oil right now....wish we had a piece of that Guyana pie.

OP…you do understand that you are posting on a layoff site, right? Any rah-rah attitude will be immediately met with comments that doesn’t align with the nature of your posting and that is just how it is….no rainbows and roses here….just disappointed, disillusioned, mostly unhappy with how the company is, and frankly, just plain unhappy….

our benefits and salary are slightly below our competitors. you can reference at glassdoor or indeed.

as for beating our competition, if you are talking abt old oil and gas then maybe but remember it comes with consequences. just look at the weather situation in northwest usa and other parts. our past will catch up to us soon.

Once again…the winner is the biggest loser. Congrats. Sadly your line of thinking continues to delude and erode the value that many try to bring which is hard to do when we are simply not honest with ourselves.

Chevron got lucky that oxy was d-mber than we were. Its pretty much that simple. They tried to destroy the balance sheet, but oxy was he-l bent on destroying their company.

We are not miles ahead because we are good at what we do. We have terrible leadership (HSE, HR etc). We are miles ahead because our the competition is just a lot worse.
