Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I Smell A Rat

Just heard that Voluntary Retiree Life Insurance will be offered in the fall. My bet is that they are throwing retirees a bone as a supposed improvement in benefits when at the same time reduce/eliminate retiree health care benefits. Just wait and see.

What I heard was that, with the reduction of company provided life insurance, there will be a window to purchase supplemental life insurance without underwriting.

That "without underwriting" will allow people that might otherwise not be eligible for life insurance at any price to get more coverage.

So, if someone is in receipt of a bad diagnosis or has health conditions that would preclude getting life insurance in the open market, the AT&T offer would be something to look into.

Nothing new, this information was included in the original announcement when this benefit would be reduced to a fraction of its initial value. As with any benefit offed by T, the rates for this supplemental life insurance are way overpriced. Much better rates are available on the open market. Another Stankey/Santone fictional benefit.

Yesterday's headlines. This was announced almost a year ago when they notified people that non mgmt was going to be capped at $25k and mgmt $15k for life insurance.

The rat you smell is of course the Ratty & Stinky and the BoD that does NOTHING.

My retired wife was indeed sent some email this week about some new Retiree Life Insurance. The Stink is not giving anything back. It is over priced insurance that they are trying to su---r people into. You can get insurance cheaper from other sources. It is not subsidized from T like the prior insurance offerings. Stink is giving you NOTHING!

Not dissimilar to the cr-p they try to pawn off to active employees, like car insurance, pet insurance, etc. It is just a commercial offer that is much more expensive than from any other source.

I bet the Stink gets a kick back for anyone stupid enough to sign up.
