Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Misdemeanor Employee

What's the deal with a conviction, being an employee already? Do you have to disclose to HR or manager (some companies have that policy), or will they find out through routine background checks? The specific misdemeanor has no impact on job/job duties (DWI) any insight on repercussions would be great.

misdemeanor, not relevant. Almost everyone in the company has had a "ticket".

Whats up with all the anti-vaxxers on this site? That used to be strictly liberal hippie stuff. Qanon turned your brains into mush.

A few years ago an exec was convicted of felony in California. You can Google it. Great example they set!

Believe it or not, there are members of Upper Management with DWI on their record! It happens...

I'm also never going to take the vaxx. Chevron needs to think long and hard about mandating this. They're looking at a 30% vax rate for Pascagoula. That won't change much. Good luck replacing those workers! They'll have to call in the Capitol Police as the Mississippi National Guard will stand down on any orders.

For $200 you can seal your record and it won't show in any search from any private firms including Chevron HR or any 3rd party company they hire to do random background checks. Better be safe. Seal it. Talk to a lawyer.

Keep it to yourself and try to get off the bottle a bit.

Those downvoting the response by @dcb are called SHEEP. If concern for your own health doesn’t matter much, then go ahead and get vaccinated. But, don’t go snubbing people who would like to hold out longer for better evidence that the jab is safe.

HR can take a backseat. I have my own policies and they come way before that of Chevron HR. I absolutely will not take the COVID-19 jab. Not enough science and real world data known about it and its potential effects on the body and mind. As an employee for now 22 years, I know very well the company cannot mandate me to take the shot, not unless they update their policy and in writing take full responsibility for my health consequences.

I'd start by checking your "new to Chevron" documentation for mention of such a policy. You could also browse the HR site for policies. It's probably best to read everything on the site vs. searching for that specifically.

Odds are it will never come up unless you're up for promotion for a c-level position.

What's important is determining if you really do have a substance abuse problem and taking action on it. There's no shame in taking care of yourself and facing whatever it is that represents the underlying issue. I don't see how turning a bad situation around would be looked at in a negative light by the company.
