Should have endorsed FTTH and stayed the course. They ended up wasting all that cash on failed acqisitions that could have been used for FTTH. MetroNet seems to have found a way to get FTTH, why couldn't T? Will 5G make FTTP obsolete? I doubt it.
it was a good decision for the board and the rest of the cronies at the top. wasn't a good decision for the economy and jobs and customer choice. so I vote no

Ed's achilles heel was that he always had the dream to one day become ceo of at&t but when divestiture came about that dream looked no longer attainable. UNTIL, at&t went down the tubes, failed at everything so badly and was in such terrible condition that it could be easily bought . Nothing in at&t was worth buying but Big Ed knew that was the way he could fulfill his dream of becoming at&t chief. So he bought what should never have been bought for the name alone. And ever since then it has been the greased banana peel sliding down the bannister of corporate profits and effectiveness and into disdain by the american consumer.
Yes, going back to the baby bell that was so successful they were able to purchase ameriwreck (which was a total disaster company when SBC purchased it), Pacific Telesis, and of course the failure at&t.
There's no problem that can't be solved by an Okie with an accountancy bachelors from a middling state school
