We recently had a fulfillment associate get promoted to backroom. Even though it was a promotion from level 5 to 7, he had his pay go down from 16/hr to 15/hr. This company’s a fu----g joke

BS
Well if backroom makes 15... But fulfilment makes 16 it's NOT a promotion. Maybe just more responsibility. That does not equal promotion. If you move to a position that makes less, you will take a slight loss of a small percentage. Like 5-10%.
If it is a true promotion then there is no loss. I believe back room makes 15. So there is no promotion there. Just as if a specialist became a cashier. It's not a promotion, the specialist would take a percentage drop. They would still make more than $15 but not 16. You change jobs, you change pay. If a team lead becomes specialist... They would make more than $16 but less than $18. I dont know the exact amount but there would be job credit involved.
Lol they haven’t used the 1-7 pay scale in years. Try again
there is no numbered levels, its A, B or C, there's no change in pay for lateral moves and 5% between levels (A to B = 5%, A to C is 10%). Backroom is a level C so there would be no loss, so I'm calling BS on your story.
B S.....automatic 5% pay increase, no decrease for sure
Stop crying
