Isn't the future both fiber and wireless broadband? You won't have wireless broadband without a fiber backbone to carry all the data, placing fiber serves at least two purposes -- both supporting fiber bandwidth to businesses and residences which it passes along the way and supporting the backbone to cell towers required by wireless broadband. Anyone who thinks wireless broadband alone is the future doesn't understand the physics of radio transmission of data versus light (fiber) transmission of data -- light can carry way way more data per second and more reliably than radio transmission ever will. So, let's do both.
Stink is no visionary. Placing fiber is so 2000’s. Wireless broadband is the future. He was giddy about getting a govt check to place rural fiber. That’s pretty sad. 10, 20 yrs from now, it won’t be ‘you still have a landline? It’ll be ‘you still have a cable or fiber in your house?’.
