Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm not keeping my hopes up

What are the chances that we are really going to go back to the basics after the last several debacles and focus on what we do best without the ELT coming up with a new brilliant idea to try and enter another market that will cost us who knows how many billion dollars? Not too high, right?

Stank has Ratty and J Stephens on consulting contracts so you are correct in thinking not much will change once Stank sees he can't grow revenue with the assets left after DTV and WM are gone

T cannot compete with the likes of TMOB and VS in the wireless business. T cannot compete with Comcast and other FTTH companies. What will they do for income if they don't continue to buy other companies at a premium and sell them off at a fraction of the original price. Stankey for President! What a freaking know it all.

They will go back to building a house of cards in an attempt to grow earnings by purchasing companies only to dump them a few years later for pennies on the dollar. They don't know any other way so why would anyone think they will do things differently?

when earnings stay flat, they'll go back to the "we have to enter new markets to grow" mentality.

rinse and repeat

The existing board and executive team has not shown the ability to execute on the basics in decades. If you think suddenly they are going to change you are mistaken. The under investment and poor decision making related to the mobility and broadband businesses cannot be under estimated or turned around by making simple changes. I expect Stankey to stay on until the sale of Directv and the spinoff of Warner are complete. Then the board will turn the controls over to McElfresh.

They're getting ready to roll out a CNN streaming service (pay service). CNN's ratings have tanked.... what makes these geniuses think ANYONE will pay for this?

If Stinky can figure out a way to further enrich himself with tens of millions more in compensation, then perhaps. But without mega mergers, he will not be collecting $9m deal bonuses each time he buys high and sells low.
