Why do new employees get paid more the employees that have been here doing the job for years

I’ve been here 8 years and make 15.30 where they hire for the same position and start them at 16.50 totally unfair but what can you do

Because the company wants to be woke. Instead they are a joke. This will backfire immensely on them.

Because this company only wants to invest in new employees. There pay system has not been fair since they went to 2 percent for everyone. Doesn't matter your work ethic, hard worker or lazy, here's 2 percent. Oh and let's bump up the starting pay in certain dept so other depts can feel the love. And if that's not enough BS. , let's not increase the pay of the poor sap that's been here for 4 to 8 years so everyone is on the same page. Because that looks good to the press right? Oh and don't forget when they change certain job codes, some people received a huge jump in pay simply for doing the same exact job. SMH.
