Head manager said two positions were "eliminated" because of some process called "snp". Does anyone what this is? How often does it happen? It is an organization of core and contract personnel.

AWG = Affected Work Group. The pool of candidates they are using to decide who gets cut. They can define this pool using a combination of criteria: job title/grade, work location, work function, etc.
FMP = Force Management Plan - an old Legacy T term
It sounds so much nicer than "surplus", doesn't it?

Are you sure they didn't say "FMP"? That's a phrase they use to describe a typical surplus situation.
Manager says he doesn't see any upcoming snp's but that doesn't mean it won't happen again - right?
