Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

MMM committees- just free labor so frustrating

So my mid market manager, or Regional Director, or whatever you wanna call them today comes back from Some mid market acquisition meeting, for a committee that they’ve been appointed to, and tells me that I’ve been appointed to help them.
Then says I’ll be helping to lead some training calls in the near future and starts walking through the hours a week they spend on calls and planning weekly.
In a nutshell, these committees are free labor.
The TCs and Marketing people who help support these drive hours of work down to us through their “great ideas”.
These TC’s, and marketing support spend hours messaging us every day on Microsoft teams, or WebEx, sometimes I have chats going in both to us… Which is stressful and confusing. Can’t focus on our jobs!
I am a CSE with a monthly quota!
My manager has some crazy quota too and now we’re both going to be stuck to help train people because AT&T can’t hire more/better/proper operations and training people??!?!?’!!!
He and I not only have quotas to hit, but we are trying to figure out the thousands they owe us in commissions due to paying on APAs most of this year for TBR!

Now we got an email this week that basically talk in circles on payout about TBR. It has so many different scenarios and criteria in it for different percentages of payout that we are all confused. So frustrating!

And… We are starting to get pressure to get out in the field much more and be in person for customer meetings.
So… If over a half a day every single week is spent on multiple committee calls, preparation for those calls, helping out with Market training and blitzes, will I get a break on my quota????
Of course not!!!!!!
Over the course of the past year and a half they have ramped up some really insane amount of committees, groups and panels in mid market.
Frustrating thing is we have quotas. We cannot say no to these committees without looking bad or without throwing away any chance a progression or promotion.
So we’re forced to participate for hours a week, i’ve been on a few of them. The operations people or TCs from headquarters that help with these things just pile on the work to us. Are constantly messaging these committees and the overall midmarket team looking for people to help them with 10 million different projects. All it results in is stress and more work for the sales people.
Someone needs to tell leader ship, stop with these committees! Stop forcing people and appointing people. Hire more operations people, more marketing people and more TC‘s if you want this stuff.
they don’t realize is cutting into overall production for the company. It’s really ridiculous, and I’m at the end of my patience with all of this.
Way to dump more non sales work on us again!

speaking to coworkers in different organizations as well as my own it doesn't seem like anyone is happy in their job anymore. Common theme throughout is that everyone is expected to work more for less. Think it's due to bad managerial decisions (Thank you S&S) as well as the overuse of surplusing employees wherein the company cuts the employee but not their workload.

Why don't you man up and tell them "No"?
Why would you allow yourself to be used as a common peon and a tool?
Have you no pride?
They will abuse you as much as you let them.
Your job has little future. They will suck the very life out of you then cast you aside.
File for FMLA if it's that traumatic.
The H3LL with them.

He/She is absolutely correct. Here's a great way to start. Open your browser of choice: Firefox, IE, Chrome, Safari, Opera ... heck, use Netscape if you want. Once open, go to the address bar and type in: 'www.linkedin.com' and then navigate to do a job search.

You'll begin to find your stress reducing almost immediately, and begin to envision a time when you will enjoy going to work every day.

Take it from someone with first-hand experience!

Good luck.

Unfortunately, your frustration and current demands are not unusual or new. I agree with the OP, this might be the point when you decide to make career altering decisions. You have options.
