I know this is a lay-off board but some of you may have some perspective.
How much notice do people customarily give around here? I’ve seen some information suggesting 3 months but I worry because I don’t trust this company.

I got fed up in January and told my manager i was leaving and asked him how much notice he wanted. He told me that two weeks is customary and I retired two weeks later.
Just out of curiosity, what is the difference if you formally retire with the company or not? They pretty much took away all retirement benefits. You aren't eligible for retiree health anymore. If you've got 20 years you can access your pension at 55. You can take your 401k. Genuinely curious. Say you put the suggested 3 months notice in, and they let you go before the 3 months are up and before your eligible early retirement date. What are you losing out on? Once you hit 55 you can get your pension and 401k out of there whether you retire or quit. Not sure what the benefit of retiring there anymore is.
They won't hire your replacement before you retire unless your area has some special pi--e dust. The J8 can't be opened until you pull the plug.
A’ight, I feel ya trust fund zoomer millennial. You still ain’t getting no cake! Make sure you get everything set before you say ANYTHING to Allstate, or you might suddenly “not a good fit, we have to let you go” na’mean? I would give it 2 weeks, same as resigning, if you retire early. I left GECKO for my own reasons and they weren’t di-ks about it, but I have a feeling Allstate would be. Don’t worry about your team, it sucks but I was serious when I said you’ll be forgotten the next day, That’s how it goes here
My boss gave 6 months and his leadership did nothing towards the transition.
Original poster here: Zyzz brah: not sure where you’re going with your post full of assumptions:
The real basis of my posting is around those who’ve been exposed to others around them retiring if:
I no longer care about this company but deeply care about my team and would value a couple of months to work with a replacement so my coworkers don’t get thoroughly dumped on. Our area like most of the company is under staffed and over worked but we are currently hiring in the US. Maybe I shouldn’t care about my team, but I do.
3 months? Lol, just LOL! They would probably can you on the SPOT!! I know of people that got fired a few months before retirement lulz, this isn’t the 1950s boomer, you ain’t getting a gold pocket watch and a goodbye cake, you out the door and forgotten the next day at Allstate boyo!!
Two weeks maximum. Don’t give them time to do any monkey business.
It really depends on your relationship with your colleagues. If you care about those that will be picking up your workload, you would want to give enough notice to enable a smooth transition. Otherwise, two weeks is adequate.
