We had a girl on her 2nd day call out and say she couldn't work weekends because of childcare. When she went through the hiring process she never said she couldn't work weekends, she was able to work any day any time. She isn't the 1st to pull this cr-p on us either. Newbies come in thinking they can have off on weekends while the long term workers have to beg for 1 weekend off a year! Then you have the ones hired for a specific position that say, once hired, that they don't feel" comfortable" doing that job. That one was managements fault though, she worked here years ago, barely, and they hired her back. Now she walks around hiding on her cell phone and when told she can't be on her phone all day she says " I know my rights" . OMG

I'm surprised she didn't quit while she was at lunch on the first day! So many of these lazy people do that after they see what real work is.
I have a manager that will not allow that hiring at open availability, then two days later said they could only work Monday thru Friday mornings because of child care, manager told her she could not work around that availability and we will go ahead and terminate you out now.
As a part timer new or not you can say what you want and don’t want as far a hours and days now it’s up to your manager if they want to give them hours. As a teamlead I have had several new associates do that to me and I give them 2 days a week maybe one day. No use in you complaining if you are full time because you are block anyways. If these associates want hours they will open up their availability
