I'm not very satisfied, but I hope that I will not stay here much longer. The problem is that I didn’t think much about one day having to look for a new job, so I didn’t expand the skillset much beyond what my job required here. Besides, it seems to me that never before have more people applied for a single job vacancy.

Every company needs to review who owns them...it's not the C-suite, rather the equity firms and shareholders.
T has the three largest ones; TVG, BlackRock and State Street (just look at what BlackRock (aka BlackStone) has been buying lately) and they will cut jobs as long as they deem it will keep them in the black...they do not care about you. Get some training if you wish to work more or find a way to retire. Good luck.
It all depends on how many flair badges you earned. A General Radiotelephone operators license with ship radar endorsement and a current CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification might help also.

AT&T workers don't expand skill set. They rather sit around and blindly worship horrible executives and delude themselves into thinking things are great.
Finding a new job depends on way too many variables to give a simple answer to the OPs question. Things like what you do, how much effort you put into continuous education, where you live, and what you want to do.
That said, if one is smart and takes advantage of the learning & development opportunities at T (while they last), and actually tries to do cross-functional work with different teams at T, finding a new job at a better company will probably be easier than if you just sat and did your mindless routine day after day.
And it's a good idea to expand your knowledge, because at some point everyone will be surplussed at T. Remember, Stink said that people shouldn't expect this to be a lifelong job any more. At least not while he's in charge.

I assume you mean transferring to another job within T. Good luck with that, almost impossible the way things are now.
