Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

This is depressing

I haven't been at Honeywell for too long, next month will mark my second year. What makes me really sad is to see how scared my older colleagues are of layoffs. Everybody is willing to do whatever is asked of them even when it's unreasonable to make sure they stay on the manager's good side. I seem to be the only one in my team who's not afraid 24/7. I understand where they are coming from, considering that the job market is not kind to people their age, but living in fear non-stop is no way to live. It's an overall depressing situation.

@1vux, pathetic attempt to curry favor on behalf of the younger set. Apple polishing is obviously still a thing, regardless of one's generation.

Fake post. A bitter old-timer trying to leave readers with the fake impression that younger employees are allied with the whiners on this site. News flash-they aren't.

401k match is not enough money to wait for… immediately begin looking for 1) a side gig, apps or a startup. 2) a new job with better hours and a vision that you feel passionate about

Think of yourself as inventory on the shelf.

This company is like the proverbial t*rd circling the bowl before being absorbed into the sewer. It's a nasty ride on that log, once out of sight, so to speak. It's better to hop over to another well established and ethical company where you will be treated with respect and admiration for what you bring. At Moneyhell you'll forever be just a number and a drain on the bottom-line. The HR Gestapo, and likely your manager, have no qualms whatsoever about terminating you in order to lock in their merit increase and quarterly bonus. These "parasitic" powers that be are merely milking their "host" while stockholders blissfully buy, buy, buy - driving the price up or sideways. It can't last forever, as the golden goose can only deliver so many "eggs" before it croaks. Just one look at GE testifies to that.

Hey OP it's good you recognize this. There are many reasons us old f@rts act so timid. I will give you one.

Management turnover. It's not uncommon to have 2 to 4 new managers within a 2 to 3 year window. Constant reorgs.

New manager has on going PIP, furlough, RIF qoutas...raise allocations etc..

New manager does not know old f@rt and may just assume unmet goals are old f@rts fault.

New manager may want to bring in drinking buddies from last position and will just PIP old f@rt to free up position. Next to no justification needed.

New manager thinks old f@rt knows too much and will lean on them until they quit.

Etc...etc..etc..we learn to lay low.

The best advice I can give you is to save and invest at least 50 to 60% of your take home pay like your life depended on it because it does. Become financially independent or you see what your future holds regardless of what company you work for.

Best of luck.

My advise would to start looking and get out of that toxic environment, its only going to get worse. I was a loyal employee for 35 years with all good reviews, riffed in a 10 min virtual meeting with HR. My supervisor had no idea as he was being riffed as well as his boss and the whole department. So do not believe for one second your safe because your boss claims you are. They mailed me my belongings pretty sad. Anyway stand tall, there is life outside besides Honeywell with, better pay, and better benifits. I had to get out of AeroSpace in order to find a better job and once I did, lots of jobs opened up and age was not a problem.

Circle dec 15 2022 as your target date to GTFO. That way you get all the 401k match you are due. Start improving your resume now and practice interviewing skills so you are sharp at the end of next year and ready for a real job and not the nightmare of Honeywell.
