Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

They will say anything

This is me venting. My executive leader at Cenovus is so useless. The utter verbal diarrhea that comes out of her mouth is simplistic, clueless, uninformed, perplexing, and confusing. It would be amusing if she did not pull the strings on my job. One day she states something categorically and has us running one direction, only to state the opposite thing catagorically and give new direction the next. I always have to find ways to agree with her and support what she says (does not want any facts or information). It is harming my personal sense of integrity and my professional confidence.

It's very stressful and I am missing time with my family to meet these insane demands. It's Sunday and I am already very anxious about the week ahead. Sadly, depsite the fact this person has never distinguished themselves with any kind of excellence (or basic qualifications or subject matter expertise), I don't see her going anywhere anytime soon.

To those who have left: Are the packages as good as people say? Do you need to be 55 to get retiree benefits? I am short by a few years and if I can't get retiree benefits I may as well just find something new and quit.

When interest rates are low the commuted value of a DB pension is high, so cashing out and investing is better than taking the monthly payments. You don’t have to wait until you are 55. If you are miserable then quit.

Don't worry about the company , use it as a stepping stone to better yourself , the minute you find something better take it , if you think they'll do you any favours for your loyalty your wrong they've made this very clear

Retiree benefits are worth less than $5K a year unless you have many years service in a defined benefit pension scheme. Don’t stay just for that.

This is a generalized problem, at least I can see it in IT. We miss Ian.

Look at the careers section at SU, CNRL, TC Energy, IMO, etc.

There are more jobs then they can fill, so come on HR - stop with the fake news.. it just highlights how worried you are of the current exodus.

I have had 3 different job interviews over the last 2 weeks. If you have good experience, then you are in high demand right now. See for yourself.

@ptc+1bFY9eab If you have been looking for five years and cant find a good job then you need to re-evaluate your skill set or maybe all you are is someone with no experience and a lackey who will say anything to please your coordinator . It took me two months to fine a better job. I handed in my notice last week. More money and a promotion. There are a lot of jobs being posted every week.

Just suck it up and collect your pay.
I've been looking for work for 5 YEARS.
There is nothing out there except for entry level jobs at minimum wage and the competition for those is fierce.
