Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Outplacement services

Assuming no but wondering if the company has offered resources to anyone let go the past few years? Any insight into which companies? Need to update resume and thinking recruiter/career coach who knows AT&T or can translate telecom on paper might be good.

A Turner Broadcasting refugee, sadly, I really anticipated some focused and targeted guidance for those of us leaving something as specialized as broadcasting, especially because Turner was so good at doing so much for its employees, but LHH was just useless for us production techs, etc.

Things haven’t changed much in 20 years at LHH. Back then was 1 day of resume workshop with a 30 minute coaching session. And yes, additional services available for a cost.

In my Surplus event, rolled out at the end of March 2019, they had provided 90-days with LHH, and they "professionally" wrote my resume' and helped me set up my Linked-In profile. I don't know if there was much beyond that I found beneficial to me. There were no direct leads to other companies, they wanted me to attend a couple of evening events with a bunch of retired exec's in the greater metro area, but I didn't go.

The 2020 victims were offered three months of 'guidance' and so forth with LHH (Lee Hecht Harrison) - for whatever that was worth, which for me was about nothing.

LHH offers a bunch of short video classes on how to write a resume, how to optimize your linkedin, etc etc etc. Pretty standard stuff that anyone with common sense already knows. They also provide a one-on-one 'counselor' who was basically a worthless cheerleader whose sole function was apparently to try and keep up the spirits during the job search. Really, there was no value in it -- at least not for me. I ended up finding a gig without their service.

It would have been nice if they provided a robust resume evaluation/rewrite service as well as a more aggressive headhunting/placement service, but whatever.

The only thing T did after the layoff that had any real impact was the generous (3-month for me) severance pay.

Last summer they offered outplacement services through LHH. Can't say I was overly impressed but I did get assigned a person to work with me 1 on 1 on my resume, LinkedIn, etc.

If you are surplused, theres a checklist that includes outplacement services. Basically a long-winded speech over the phone. I don't think it includes any 1 on 1 coaching for job placement, but I could be wrong. They provide info on updating your resume via PLE training courses.
