Once, when people asked me where I work I was proud to say where I work. Now it is the opposite. Usually, the only talk about this company that I hear is talking about poor and overpriced services so I try to avoid the topic. That and the fact that I have the opportunity to see how things have gone downhill at the company in the past couple of years paints a good p[icture in my head of how low AT&T has sunk.
I’m not thinking about leaving because a couple of years separates me from retirement, but if I was any younger I wouldn’t think twice.

Then, just quit if you're so damn ashamed to work for T...it's a very easy fix! Don't let it over tax your brain! Trust me, T has more employees than it needs and certainly won't miss any of us!

Left two years ago for a competitor. They are night and day better with culture, employee focus, annual bonus and raise$. Quarterly employee appreciation gift set to each team members home. Virtual meetings our admin delivers lunch to our homes. I was not happy after 20 years with T, and left. You have choice … be the light and leave. I did and am so happy I left. Stop complaining and ask yourself , “what am I going to do about it?”
att is going to get back to their real roots and ripping off customers with their phone and internet access. so its all good because they just wasted a GDP worth of money trying to make the video work so now they are back to their normal cesspool self. so its all good.
“Ashamed” is an interesting word choice - what personal responsibility rests on your shoulders for the state of the company today?
Do you think rando and stink felt ashamed when the New York Post reported they had dinner at a private club in Dallas together on Friday, 5/14?
From the article - “Along with their wives, they were seen at their swanky private club, where pillars of the local business scene gather to celebrate their rarefied status.”
Until the people at that table feel shame for their bad decisions, why should you?
These guys not only made horrible business decisions, they affected peoples’ lives and emotions.
Yet an average employee comes on here saying they’re ashamed. Why did you let the company do this to you?
What’s there to be ashamed of. Our current leadership just wasted some countries GDP trying to make a media thing work. We all should be proud, going back to our grassroots, pipes and wireless.
Don’t be ashamed! Just use those at&t checks to invest in something and when that something goes to the moon you can move on.

Sounds like you unhappy cuz AT&T found out ways to keep you from underperforming and now you have to work.
T has been horrible ever since I was rebranded AT&T from the company I came over from. A complete difference between night and day. At my former company we were treated like actual human beings capable of intelligent thought. We enjoyed good raises far above inflation, great bonuses that weren't jacked with, good benefits, good work-life balance, good managers who understood people and how to manage them to bring out their best, good promotional opportunities. etc.
With T, complete opposite. We were treated like cr*p; the fat red-headed step kids nobody wanted on their team the very minute we were rebadged. Everyone who came across to T were treated as "inferior" simpletons incapable of stringing together a complete sentence; much less actually being able to perform quality work.
I specifically remember a T director browbeating one of our team members I came across with for simply asking questions during a staff meeting, because she didn't know T's procedures. Duh! She didn't know the procedures because we've only been T for a phucking month!
I don't tell people where I work, not because of security issues like at a government alphabet soup agency, but simply because I don't want to hear every Jack and Jill tell me how bad their service is, how messed up their bills are, how horrible customer service is, how rude the clerk at the pop up store was, etc. etc. etc. It's simply not worth the hassle. This company is sinking faster than the Titanic.
I used to be proud of this company too. About the only thing you can do is take personal pride in your own work and forget about this place when you go home each night.
T has been a cr@ppy company since the late 1980's. It has just gotten to a whole new level in the last 5 years.
I can remember employees sitting on the curb at the front door entrance at 5PM in a Friday afternoon. Asked what was wrong and they said they got a phone call from their manager at 4PM and they were told that they job is in another state starting Monday morning - if they still wanted it. No relo. No travel. No hope.
I see the main difference in the last 5 years as being:
- Ratty and Stinky was able to waste hundreds of billions of $ with the complicity of the Board of Misdirectors and be handsomely rewarded for it. Not just once, but multiple times.
- The spreadsheets given to people wacked over the last five years clearly shows a pattern of age discrimination. Supposedly clearly against the law. But if you want the cr@ppy severance, your rights to sue are forfeited and you don't get the previous ok severance of 2 years then 1 years but just 6 months max and I am sure Stinky will reduce that further.
- Back in '96 they reduced the pension for all employees so that the pension plan could pay for retiree health benefits. So as a results I had to work 10 extra years to get a similar pension amount. Now that 65 is a few years away, Stinky j3rks away the retiree health benefit that I have been paying for the last 25 years! POS is too kind to describe him.
Like I said, T always was cr@ppy, just in the last 5 years they have gotten even worse.
@1uah, For all intents and purposes you are free from the core-company. Have you not been paying attention to the changes that have been rapidly occurring the past couple few months? i.e. look at your future paystubs from DIRECTV LLC.
Which is why us legacy DirecTV people can't wait until we are free from this dumpster fire of a company.

See this is what happens when you think a corporation can have feelings. AT&T can't be ashamed of anything. It's neither alive nor sentient. It is just a fictional person under the law for the purpose of freeing stockholders from financial liability. And despite what the geriatric cases on the Supreme Court say, it doesn't have inalienable rights like a natural person. That's just a neoliberal scam.

Unfortunately, a large percentage of employees are disgusted with the company and have been for years! It's not just the veterans, but also the people with 3-7 years as well. T has just been treating its people like cr-p for the last couple years and they're the ones that have done so much to advance the success of the company! No good deed goes unpunished!

As a new hire that loves what this company has offered me so far, and after meeting everyone else here, I can't wait for all these miserable old heads to finally retire.
I agree, even if wanted to we can't defend the practices , especially the dark pattern policies and customer no-service.. but that's the kind of business model this place works under... Maximum profit , sc--w customers so the executives can pi-s away billions of failed aquisitions...it's sad really .. T runs a no brainer business they're a virtual my monopoly, they could probably make more $$$ with customer and employer friendly policies.
