Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What are the criteria?

Lately we’ve had a few questionable new hires. Not sure what the requirements are to work here other than to have a pulse. I wish management would at least hire people with a little bit of common sense. That’s really should not be asking for a lot but sadly it seems it is.

Sam's has never been the leader in pay...at least not for the last 30 years! If you want a warehouse job, go to Costco. Benefits and pay are better and they don't have as much favoritism...although there is some everywhere.

Unfortunately I think you're overestimating the amount of qualified applicants and underestimating how many blow an interview that we basically will hire anyone for. In truth we take a lot of risks so that there's more associates in the club knowing full well a percentage of new hires won't work out for varied reasons. I've hired amazing people, I've hired garbage, I can't think of one time where an interviewee has said "I'm a pretty lazy person". You shouldn't be upset that we hire bad associates, be upset we don't hold them accountable and managers should be upset that they feel helpless as we do next to no advertising and offer less per hour than most major companies. Sams used to be a leader in the industry for pay, most executives think associates find value in the benefits, reality is that a free membership is basically the least amount they could give you and most benefits are useless, you should look at all the savings you could get (most are exclusive to Arkansas but hey, maybe you'll take a vacation there, see their Major League sports teams are gander at the World Famous architecture). I save $12 with my Verizon bill, Thanks Sams! No one will match that!

Gee in our club they don't get interviewed. Crazy Work Day...new people just show up for orientation, such as it is. And get this, we had a manager call up a guy who was fired for his attendance. She hired him back as a cashier. All he ever did was complain.
