Work/life balance

Am I just unlucky, or is there zero work/life balance at HON?

There was a link on the home page to a video about work life balance. That's All you'll get from Hon, other than another impossible task, goal or deadline.

To the new employees- it comes from my own personal experiences of being highly motivated working 60-70 h per week and then highly de-motivated and working 40 h or less in a week, in my short career at Honeywell. The more you work (or the value you bring) the more is expected of you. There are lots of people who are ready to take advantage of your skills and talent and then discard you or won’t bother to grow you. I observed this quite early in my career with Honeywell and started doing everything to get out of here. When I gave my notice, a number of big shots called me within few hours and asked me if anything could be done. But answer was thank you but no thank you! Good luck to everyone who are looking out!

Start a minute late, stop a minute earlier!
I kept the 'balance' this way. Always acting with urgency to leave.

If there is 1 thing I can not complain about within moneyhell, it is W/L balance. My 'new manager for 6 months till the next reorg' has no clue about me or my job so I play it as it suits me.

Work 1 minute over, log on the next day 1 minute late, your time is your regards of the “go beyond” baloney they try to feed you

Worked at HW for 47 years. The last 20 is where the inmates started running the asylum. Work/Life balance will never happen other then lip service.

Agree with @1pjm. If you are a supervisor on up, in a position where you have to produce weekly-monthly-quarterly-annual metrics to juatify your global team's existence, it never ends.

Just try telling your Director or VP "no" or just not respond to one of their demands and see how well that goes. I guess people who control their own time at HON haven't made it to one of these "coveted" positions.

@1txx - that's funny. I can't count the number of 6am, 7am, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, and weekend meetings called due to some Corporate or ALT crisis or emergency requiring an immediate answer and action. For a number of people there isn't work/life balance, and it's only gotten worse since there aren't enough people to do the job. Been going on for years, which was one of the reasons I left - to get work/life balance.

Plenty, but like much of life, it’s up to you...you give your life to the company, that’s your decision....life/work balance is ALWAYS up to the individual, not the company’s responsibility, they will always look out for themselves, up to the employee to look out for themselves....nothing new.

There is no life at Honeywell.
work/life balance is worse than zero .. it’s undefined.

It's simple. Do like Buffett: say no to things that don't bring value and don't help you accomplish your personal mission. If you let it, the company will burn you out in no time. Don't work ridiculous hours, say no to unreasonable schedules and milestones, and just go do your own thing after 40 hours. If your review is dinged for it, hire an employment law attorney and sue. Honeywell is pumping out a cr-p-ton of propaganda and virtue siganlling, including paying off other companies for awards of "most ethical" and "best places to work". A little reality check form an actual employee is long overdue.

I've joined about eight months ago and so far it remains elusive.
