Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Who should replace Stankey?

Everyone is calling for Stankey to resign (along with the BoD) but be careful what you wish for as his replacement could be worse and will probably be paid even more. Do we bring someone from the outside or promote from within? Let's see some recommendations.

To @1srn+1b35cNbY: The 44th and 46th Presidents were by far the worst ever and #46 has done tremendous damage to the country in 100 days and could destroy this company in less. Those two make Jimmy Carter look good with all his mistakes

OP writes, "...be careful what you wish for as his replacement could be worse"

True. I suppose we could get the 45th president to be CEO, but barring that, I doubt anyone could be worse.

Definitely the BoMisD will appoint Marachel Knight - or someone that is grossly incompetent.

Bring John Donovan back! He came from outside the company and had real vision!

A small Monkey. Seriously. A small Monkey would have kept reaching out to the bananas that kept it alive (telecomm). Once we got a Stankey, well he got the shlt slapped out of him trying to play media boy by the big Gorrilas.

"we need a network person"

Didn't he have some network position in the past? I remember him coming to my market years and years ago & all the rf managers were in a panic because he was known to be a huge jerk.

We need a leader, doesn't matter where they're from - someone who hires good people and can stay out of their way. That's Stankey's weakness, he's a know it all that everyone hates.

we need a network person - not an accountant etc. Either a wireless person or a fiber person

'Today we have a Jeff Immelt and we need a Jack Welch type. '
Ummm ... Stink is a Jack Welch type. He lays off tens of thousands to cover his own greed, corruption, and arrogance.

Put in a puppy. At least then we'd actually like the CEO, and it certainly wouldn't be half as destructive or incompetent.

At this point it probably doent matter. Not sure T can ever recover, with major debt, the strong performance of our competitors, it highly unlikely.

it will McElfresh. He is a way better liar. Sometimes Stankey looked pained when he is lying. McElfresh can lie with an expression of candor.

Nobody is calling for replacements of Stankey and the BOD. If such a call happens, it will come from Blackrock and Vanguard, the largest institutional investors in AT&T. The BOD existence depends on shareholder votes. Might not be such a bad idea to switch them out, but I'm not seeing it.

No worry. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. He's contracted. And the BOD has his back, as usual.

We need someone that understands that AT&T's business processes are still full of old school practices. We can upgrade all the systems we want but if the business clients still perform all the old 50 yr old practices then we are just putting lipstick on a pig. We tend to outsource employees in an attempt to reduce costs but do nothing about simplifying the processes. We need someone that will ask 'Why do we need that' . Actually, we all should be asking that question.

  • You forgot the sarc tag. Welch was a criminal no different than Al Capone but in the end probably stole more. Carrot Top would be better

We need a bu-t kicking leader who is less interested in a title and more interested in rallying the troops to get this ship sailing. Today we have a Jeff Immelt and we need a Jack Welch type.

McFresh. He is sleazy and a liar but smooth. That is what we need in a CEO. He knows the business. Do not go for outside talent. Then you get someone like John Donovan God forbid.

New CEO needs to come from outside of AT&T, and needs to cut the bloated bureaucracy. The first thing is to get rid of the multi-millions of perks, jets, off-site luxury meetings and focus on technology of 5G!!!

Incompetence currently hides behind titles, friendships and longevity!!
