Performance takes many forms. The form of key performance indicators (KPIs) all too familiar at T as the tools used to reduce workforce management to a commodity measured in resources. Performance can also take the form of an art through theater or music. While success in KPI management is used to drive lower management, the art of the performance drives upward mobility in upper management. KPIs are table stakes, the performance of the presentation in Ops Reviews, Town Halls, Staff Meetings and other assorted venues is the means by which success is achieved. Given this disconnect between reality and art, its no wonder the markets have little use for T stock.
