Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How much interest is there for jobs at Allstate?

I'm really interested in how many people are applying now for jobs at Allstate... A lot of people would accept any job, but I don't believe there is much interest in Allstate. I was overjoyed when I once got a job here, but a few years later, now, I would not recommend anyone to apply for a job here. Moreover, I can't wait to get out of here.

Claims attrition is exceeding our hiring. Why do you think they upped referral bonuses. Not that they ever actually pay them.

I am in HR and can tell you they laid off too many recruiters, the amount of applicants to the job reqs are insane, in 2019 and early 2020 there were some reqs that had only a few applicants, now it is not unusual to see hundreds, the ones we looked at had between 125-200 applications. I was astonished at that number, and they have been told to give priority to previous Allstate employees, what that means if you are currently at Allstate and trying to move up good luck you will probably get pushed aside.

I have talked with friends of mine at other companies that are not insurance and they are seeing the same thing, one said that there are people who 18 months ago would be a top pick and hire, that now don't even get to the interview stage and the other agreed they were seeing the same thing.

You may not like what I have typed, but it is what it is.

Depends on area. It is still slim pickings in many areas and many companies are starting to roll back their work from home options so there are less and less work from home option than previously.

@1wwo+1az2T2js The job markets not that awful for claims either, if you are willing to get out of the insurance industry. A lot of people are not hiring claims adjusters specifically right now, but there are jobs out there.

@1biy+1az2T2js the job market ain't bad if you have a degree in something useful or are in a trade. So, the job market is only bad for those who do something easily outsourced, like claims.

Poster below me I have to call BS. I was laid off from Allstate, and I would never work in Allstate claims again. I’d work retail before doing that sh*t again.

I have been a recruiter for several areas for 8 years now. Currently is the most applications we have received for open positions I have seen by far. We had to bring in additional persons from linked areas to assist. And a large portion of these applicants are former employees laid off. The laid off Allstaters account for about 1/3 of the total applications I have reviewed. And many had or have jobs with other companies and industries since they were laid off and trying to come back to Allstate now. The interest in jobs from past Allstate employees and new to Allstate us the highest I have seen in my 8+ years of recruiting.

I had a friend apply and once he told me he had an interview I told him what to expect and he declined the interview.
