It is not clear to me how some manage to be promoted to managers here? Judging by their work in a managerial position, I clearly doubt that they used to be hard workers and that they are really qualified to be promoted into management. I wish I had known my manager while he was in a lower position, but I wouldn’t say he was a much better employee than others even then.

If you think your managers and leads are bad you should have seen the ones at Sears. They were the absolute worst.
They only promote their favorites and people who suck up because 70% of managers at Sam's needs to be fired especially at the Texas city club.
Management in general at Sam's and Walmarts leave a lot to be desired, as we can all tell by the nasty replys and attacks on here. Most managers and team leads that are hired at these places simply couldn't cut it at better and more customer service type retailers. I'm not trying to be nasty about it...it's just a fact. The ones that are exceptional, don't last there, because they see it too.
