Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Do they deserve 2 weeks notice?

I got an offer for a new job and of course I accepted it without much thinking because it can’t be much worse than here. After 7 years here and the constant pressure lately, I just couldn't stand it anymore. Despite everything, I gave 2 weeks notice even though some think Sam’s doesn’t deserve it at all.

To be professional yes you give your 2 weeks notice, do it for you not for them... And you don’t even have to show up to work after you give the notice!!!

Don’t have to because they won’t hire you back

If you did give the manager 2 weeks I would go back to him or her and say I changed my mind I quite as of right now. And if you told your new job you would have to give them 2 weeks notice then guess what you have a 2 week vacation ( with no pay ) in between jobs to recover from Sam's and the stress they have put you through!! Good Luck & don't look back...

It doesn't hurt the ones you are trying to, it only hurts your co–workers. If you care about them.

They don't give notice when they about to fire you or eliminate your position, so why would you give them notice?

A few years ago, all over the Sam's Club country, home office came in and walked all the middle management out. This was a job that was a step between team lead and manager, and now it no longer exist. Those people were devastated. I mean one day your making your car payment and the next you're not.

Let's not forget that in 2018, home office closed 63 stores with no notice. None. These people showed up for work to find the doors locked and their jobs gone.

And this week, after a year of associates being allowed to be over the five point limit, this manager decides to fire em all. No one advance notice. Just chew and s––t.

So courtesies are for companies that deserve it. This company doesn't.

Been with Walmart 10 years. Since I’ve started Company it has gone downhill. The way Walmart treats employees is wrong we are treated like dirt so yes if I get hired somewhere else I will not even think of giving two weeks.

Walmart Inc is an at will employer. The 2 week notice is just a professional courtesy.

On top of that this company will rehire most former associates.

In other words as previously mentioned do not over think it.

I agree don't burn your bridges. Giving two weeks notice is the right thing to do. Good Luck in your new job.

I’m a Walmart employee and have two interviews tomorrow if I get one of the jobs I’m out. It has become TOXIC at here. The front end coach is so rude and disrespectful. Understaffed, long lines, no help on top of all that we get treated like trash. Store manger doesn’t do anything about how front end coach treats employees. If I get hired I’m quitting. They do not deserve a notice.

It’s not about if Sam’s deserves it. This is about you. The professional you. As stated before “don’t burn bridges “ you never know who you will need for help in the future.

In many cases, when you give two weeks notice, they say "go now". Dont overthink it.
