Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Heard a rumor that Finance is going to have another MVO this summer.

Seems like wishful thinking from someone that didn't take last year's MVO. But it comes from someone that said they heard an SVP say it in a meeting. Several employees are already saying they will take the offer.

I heard it myself in 2 different meetings in my Finance chain. I'm waiting with baited breath for it to come. ___ said it would be April or May, June at the latest.

I doubt it but I'm hoping. I'm in operations and probably will be leaving his year at 57 with 25 years of service. I'll start looking for a job in October. Meanwhile I will sharpen my skills and prepare for the job market since I need to work another nine years. I don't want to leave but between Healthcare and the pension I don't get ??? I get over 130k more if I take the lump sum this year then if I take it in four or nine years???

If I took the monthly disbursement I get he same this year that I would get when I'm 67 in nine years.

I hope they do a MVO, I'll take it in a heartbeat but I won't hold my breathe. I'm actually hoping they'll extend he deadline a year or so due to the amount of people leaving. From what I'm hearing their plan is working and a lot of people are leaving.

Did something change, or does MVO still pay out the regular severance? I'm not sure why it's worth waiting around for that if you're below retirement age.

Our VP said in his townhall that an MVO will be offered in Two months and wanted us to have time to think and plan if we are interested. He heads up Business Services in Finance

Switch Finance over from Microsoft to Google Office. The dead wood will leave before they have to modernize their skillset.

No way. They don't pay people to leave anymore

They should switch Finance's work planning and delivery to Scaled Agile to get the dead wood to leave. It worked well in TechDev.

I sure hope this is true, they also need to include legal team and external affairs.... all worthless business units that are non essential since all they do is tell you what you can’t do.

People are circling the drain already, the company has no inclination to offer a reasonable FMP. Healthy, well run companies look much different than T in both culture and forecast.

Just keep collaborating.
Use Tspace, Quantum and tell your boss how great they are.
Buy donuts.
Work extra long hours for free.
Help the slackers on your "team".
Be a good team mate.
Get more nano degrees and stay agile.
Lay awake at night and try to figure how to grow the business!!!!

Or, try to run them out of $$$.
Either way, you don't matter.

Post from TheLayoff.com

Most finance people are not here long enough or came from bought companies and are not impacted by the benefits change, so an MVO in that area makes sense to get reduction in staff, correct there will be no offer in technical side as they are hopeful impacted people by benefits will leave, but I really am hearing not many leaving due to benefits issues, in fact that just gets dead wood to stay longer to get closer to 65 :(

I would suspect that everyone leaving by EOY due to the insurance subsidy would take the offer. Which means there is no way in $@%$ it's actually going to be offered.

Wishful thinking by the SVP or the guy that misheard it. Why would Stinky let any org offer it when he has learned to get people to leave for free?
