Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How much does ATT value your ideas?

I tried to be creative until I realized that ATT doesn't have much interest in anyone's ideas. It used to be completely different, it was in the company's interest to have people bring in fresh ideas, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. Maybe someone won’t agree, but that's just my 2 cents. That is why there are more than ever those who go and take their ideas to companies that value them more.

Stankey once said he didn't want ideas that save on expense. He wanted ideas that drove growth. Of course the exception was when Cingular was acquired and all the banners on every company screen had to be change to orange. Or back a few years ago when IT was changed to TD. However, he still wants growth, and big growth.

It depends on your position. Some positions are all about ideas as it’s part of that job description. The product management roles specifically are about ideas and delivery. That being said, it still doesn’t mean you will get credit for implementing your idea. You save the company a ton of cash, nada on the credit. Seen it happen and have had it happen. Treat your bosses like mushrooms. The less they know the better. The more they know means the more headaches and late nights you’ll get. I’ve never seen my bonus or position increase based on my ideas no matter how good it was.

Speaking from experience, even if you do present a good idea to your "more qualified" manager, it will be twisted, and presented as his/her own idea, and you will get no credit or recognition for it. I proposed, I was able to accomplish, I facilitated the...! A bunch of narcissistic, unskilled mo--ns that know nothing about the company or have the technical ability to function. They're all a bunch of fiction writers that only know how to use all the current buzzwords and lingo.

Either you are new or incredibly sarcastic.
You’re an id–t to them. They don’t give a pinch of your ideas, thoughts, personal situation, pets, kids or anything except when they can get rid of you.
I find all you folks so emotionally invested in HeIIs basement both amazing and funny.

Based on insider, they value you to give bad feedback to your fellow employees. Said we shouldn't sugar coat our now required peer assessments.

If it was such a great idea, you'd have applied for a patent so the company could make a billion dollars off it and lay you off in six months.

Unless the BoD approves you, you're not paid for your ideas.
