Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

restrictions

When did Sam's Club decide it was ok to work with restrictions? I thought if you didn't hurt yourself at work and a dr put you on restrictions, then you couldn't work until the restriction was lifted. We have someone who has health issues and everytime you ask them for help, we're told " I can't I have restrictions" REALLY???? you're driving a forklift and we need help moving things with a lift, and they can't do it because restrictions??? Unbelievable and the mgrs allow it!

Driving a fork lift is optional. They need to give up their license if they are not comfortable driving a lift.

So, if they are milking it, that is different. If they are already running a forklift, then they should be able to assist with forklift tasks. But if we have someone hurt we put them on light duty. Or if they are pregnant etc. How would you feel if you got into a car accident, totally not your fault, and could do SOME things at work but not all, yet they told you that you couldn't come back... Without pay... Until you were 100%. Every circumstance is different and that is how they should be handled. Now if you are completely unable to do anything,. That is different. But if you can be used in other areas until you are back to regular duty, there is nothing wrong with that. And I know if you were injured you would want that for yourself. I can not speak to this particular situation without knowing the full details, but that is how we do it. This person was injured or had surgery so for the time being they need to be doing this. Because God forbid life happen to anyone and they need concessions. Granted if they are being lazy and CAN do a task, that is different, as I said before. If you are able to drive a forklift then you should be free to do anything that requires it because it's standing and steering.

That is the rule. If you are not hurt at work you have to be able to do your job. Pull the paperwork for their job duties. This company doesn't understand that certain people can't get special treatment. Rules are put in place for a reason. No consistency at all with this company
