Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Classy

Here is a great idea.....Let's fire hundreds of people and make them stay until July to receive their benefits, but before they leave let's have a company wide interview touting their replacement (Accenture CEO interview with PZ) just to rub it in their face.

Nice job PZ, you really know how to motivate your team. Whether in IT or not, there's a decent chance you are next in line for the AIG 200 rifs.

I was actually doing something else that hour, like ignoring it. I could see no reason to attend and be further insulted. Bad enough I had friends texting me while I was on PTO asking me if the rumors were true about another layoff and if I was affected. My manager didn't even know because they powers that be could not see any reason to let him know he was losing half his staff.

I have see a lot of layoffs in my time there and this was the worst one ever. Handled with a total lack of class. Then there was that "victory lap" town hall to rub it in everyone's nose.

Aggravation Is Guaranteed, that is what AIG stands for.

I thought most tone deaf Town Hall was the one where they compared themselves to Andrea and Matteo Bocelli singing and playing their piano while the little people propped them up. Hilarious! I guess I was wrong.

There was no announcement. The news trickled down from the IT folks. I think execs are hoping for a seamless transition and that you wouldn't even notice that your old IT person was gone. Except that your new IT person is 99% Indian males that barely speak English. Nice job with the diversity PZ!

Tell me again why I should join one of your fake diversity webinars?

Nothing like taking a victory lap around the lives of hundreds of folks. Classy indeed. This group of folks this round will hurt AIG and they deserve what they get.

Why would they take PTO to interview if they are already being let go?? They should save it and get paid

Can anyone give more information as to what levels and areas were told they would be laid off in July? Have they already been informed, but instructed not to relay the information down the chain of command?

I have noticed some middle management in IT taking stretches of PTO at the same time. Perhaps they all received the same information and are interviewing for other positions. This is my hunch, but there have been no announcements or even subtle suggestions by anyone in my team/department.

PZ is soo “tone deaf”!

At least 10,000 people will be let go or at least outsourced. That doesn’t account for additional layoffs they have to do in order for PZ and the cronies to get their share....

Will she be the next executive to be hired here from ACC? I would not be surprised...
