What do you pay the most attention to now when looking for a new employer? I would like to avoid at least half the negative things I had here. It would be awful to go through it all over again and finally realize that by changing the company I didn’t make any major progress. I know that the grass isn't much greener elsewhere, but still, there are a lot of even worse places than this one. What things do you have to consider now when looking for a new job, so as not to get into the same situation you had here?

There can be many opportunities. Often, medium size companies make an enormous amount of money compared to large corporations. So if you've not heard of www.inc.com, they've been around a long time publishing Inc. magazine about companies. They also now have what is known as the "Inc 5000," a list of the 5000 fastest growing companies (see link below.) Many of these are private, however, still cover every aspect of business. The #1 company on the list is OneTrust, a software company in Atlanta with a growth of 48,337%. Take your skills and see if they match any of these companies.

FB, Google, Apple are companies who’ve done extremely well on Wall Street and pay talented people extremely well. If you’ve got the skill set, professional chops, they offer a very challenging environment and a lot of opportunity for growth. Lots of positions for AI, data scientists, app developers....
Of course, they seem typically attractive to more progressive, usually advanced degree (minimum Masters degree) professions. As far as ‘woke’....these companies support many philanthropic, cultural, educational and other social causes, so......And they are mostly located in areas of the country with like minded individuals. You’ve outlined a detailed description of your expectations, but it might be helpful to determine if some of the companies like the ones mentioned align with your qualifications and skill set. In other words, what do you bring to the table?
You're not alone. I'm looking now. I've had enough of this cesspool also. Seriously the toxic culture here is beginning to affect my home life. A former boss I had was a 2nd line who couldn't take a dump without reading a job aid then calling his team to see how they do it. The group I am in now isn't much better.
I'm looking for a medium to large sized company that has a growth mindset, financials are strong, the leadership team actually knows what they are doing and Wall Street approves of their leadership.
When I research an analyst's report I want to see that analyst give high marks for innovation and growth while keeping debt to a minimum. I want to see an actual upward-moving stock price over the past 5 to 10 years and I want to see them ahead of their peers.
As far as culture I want to get completely away from "woke" bullsh*t and instead have the company concentrate on my skill set growth and development, a company that actually rewards you when you take on extra training and development on your own, and a company who actually gives good merit raises and rewards hard work and competence.
In short the exact opposite of the festering cesspool AT&T has become.
