Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How many rounds of layoffs and bad moves have you survived?

I can’t even remember how many layoffs I survived here anymore. And not just layoffs but all sorts of awful moves.

Every time I survive a layoff, I start looking for a new job but I end up staying until the next round of layoffs.

Maybe it’s the fear of new beginning because I’m used to this chaos and I’m familiar with it, and the chaos in another company would be something new that would require adjustment.

At least 1 too many I’d say.

How were they so dirty? 60 days notice, severance? No layoff is flawless, but I'll take that over how I've seen them done at past employers.

The way they did and handled the 2020 layoffs by far were the most dirty and disgusting of the three that impacted me

Absolutely! Dirtiest layoffs that I can remember!

Since 2005, bad moves? Too many to count..

Layoffs? I was personally affected by three. First in 2010. No severance and was laid off. Got another position within the company about a month later. Second was in 2014. Laid off again with no severance but towards the end of our 30 day notice many of us were asked to stay on until we were no longer needed. Ended up getting another good permanent role within the company before we were done. Third last year. Laid off in September 2020 with severance and also drew unemployment. Chilled for the holidays and a few months after. Was hired back for the same exact role and since rehired within a year get to keep same pay. Start back up in early May.

The way they did and handled the 2020 layoffs by far were the most dirty and disgusting of the three that impacted me although we did get severance in 2020 and I did not get any severance and no notice in 2010 and did not get any severance and only a 30 day notice in 2014. I assume the 30 day notice in 2014 was due to 700 people being impacted.

I overall am ok working for Allstate. Not thrilled but ok. I know layoffs are a part of business and part of life but how they did things in 2020 was just morally and ethically wrong and definitely had me thinking twice about returning this time around.
