How Stank Steered AT&T Into a Multibillion Dollar Disaster

From the NY Post -- hardly a leftie, anti-business rag. There are some very choice quotes such as:

"... with the deal, Stankey all but admitted to corporate America that the last 10 years of his career — and Stephenson’s — was a significant waste of time."
"Wall Street-types who have been following the Steph & Stank show say the signs the duo were operationally unequipped to “transform” AT&T came as early as 2011. That’s when they attempted to buy Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile unit for $39 billion."
"Steph & Stank allowed [their wireless competitors] to get into the [5G] game at a faster clip. "
"That [Stink] still has his job as CEO is a testament to his willingness to throw his boss and himself under the proverbial bus."

If it wasn't so damaging, it would be comical how badly Stephenson and Stankey have managed the company. It would be hard to distinguish between their incompetence, and someone intentionally trying to run AT&T into the ground. They are exceptionally bad at their job, and is astounding that they weren't fired.

T leadership is following Enron steps. Maybe they will end up like Enron executives.

Steph had to find some way to get his ego stroked since all of us knew he was nothing but a nerd accountant that had no clue about the business. The only reason Whitacre left the company to him is because he somehow managed to get something on Big Ed. The only way he could get the ego massage is by buying up companies that were not in the same business.

Stankey and Stephenson are both incompetent, inept, underhanded, lying dirt bags. The were a disaster for shareholders and employees. The Board of Directors sit idly by doing nothing and should be held liable for the stock performance

Sounds like he is falling on his sword, I find that difficult to believe. He may throw Randall under the bus, but himself too? What a miserable failure in corporate leadership. Stuff like this can get you admonished from the country club.
