What a neat work environment, i loved that place. More beautiful than most college campuses. Would have made a great world headquarters for at&t. I hope the new owners invest the money needed to keep the campus looking stellar.

Hoffman Estates...Having taxis drop me off at the wrong entrance and having to walk around the building which felt like a mile..:the food court there was, hands down, the best of all Ameritech/SBC locations. A beautiful building...

I’m in Michigan but made many trips to Hoffman. I always ended up in a kitchenette somehow when trying to find my way around. Lol

Microsoft is trying to build a datacenter behind the campus, but they need more juice to power it, so they are trying to figure it out. Oh, and trying to get corporate handouts from Hoffman Estates.

I remember Notebaert landing on the helipad, arriving in style from downtown. I have to believe they made a small fortune on the real estate they acquired when they built this campus. Real estate in Barrington has gone through the roof. Probably paid for the entire project. Loved the acorn nut theme throuhout the complex.

Sounds like "Metroburb" is just another name for a fancy mall. Sad.

Thanks for the post. I spent 15 years of my life in that building. It was awesome back in the day with the open floor plans, cafeteria, gym, stores and the 3 mile outdoor running/walking path on the campus. The building and grounds were so much nicer Than the SBC HQ in San Antonio and now Dallas. So sad what our leadership has “thrown away” over time with several CEO’s. Now I’m stuck at home working cause they keep closing all our buildings.

The Lisle Telcordia training center and barracks was closed due to lack of interest in training technicians.

I remember they dropped a lot of cash buying all that land and building the campus. Unfortunately it never lived up to its potential. I live in Ohio, but spent a fair amount of time there. Thanks for sharing the update.
