Apologies

My apologies. 5 years ago, I stumbled across this site while looking for more information about AT&T acquiring TimeWarner and how DirectTV was handled/treated.

When I read the posts on the site, I remember thinking to myself, “what a bunch of sad sack whiners.” The people clearly do not understand how businesses work. How the economy is evolving. They just want their own little corner of the world to not change. They just want to ride the company into decline until they can grab their pensions and retire.

Fast forward five years and some of the smartest people in what was TimeWarner are gone (mostly involuntarily, but some who just threw their hands into the air). I have seen cuts for the sake of cuts with no plan for how to run or manage the business post those cuts. I have seen payment processes put into place that damage our vendors and destroy our relationships so that we can generate cash flow to pay a price that was stupidly high for the business.

And I now understand.

So with that, I openly apologize to all of you who knew all of this well before I did.

I'm glad you saw the light. I'm sorry it took you experiencing the same disappointments. I've been around for over 30 years and to see what Stephenson and Stankey and the ilk have done to this once great company is a disgrace. They have run it into the ground. Their blatant disregard for the knowledge and talent within the rank and file - both non management and management by layoffs, outsourcing, forced retirements, crippling levels of beaurocracy and processes not to mention the billions of dollars they have flushed down the drain in the past 13 - 14 years on the worst business deals in recent memory are only a few of the reasons we are where we are today. It's heartbreaking really.

Better late than never - for whatever reason, investors still haven't figured this out.

Seen it firsthand myself how talent was let go without any clear business direction. Other talented people left on their own since they knew their knowledge was not being utilized. T leadership believed they had everything figured out..many bad decisions were being made.

Agree, without a change in leadership, T will be out of business within five years.

After 30 years, I AM GLAD THAT I'M GONE.
I stayed 29.9 years too long.

I want my copper land-line house phone back again. It was reliable, worked in power outages, and did not have robo-calls or scam calls. I could call from another phone and get my voice mail.

Duane Ackerman and Edward Whittaker, collaborating together, basically overturned the 1984 divestiture and created a great company which fell into the wrong management. This is why the FCC split up the company the first time.

In my humble opinion, all of the officers involved in the financial exploitation of this company are a disgrace to the universities and degrees they hold allegiance to.

Thanks for the post. We all truly wanted the company to be successful, it was our livelihood after all. But sadly, after one failure after another and the same culprits staying in place to do even more damage, most of us lost faith. I honestly do not know a single person that still believes this company can survive under the current leadership. While other industry players flourished, this one was turned to ash. It could have been awesome; but no....

Nothing will su ck the life and will to live out of one's soul like AT&T.
