Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

We're employees informed first?

Just curious, were the employees of T informed of this potential transaction prior to the announcement to the press? If not, why not? It will be interesting to see how these recent transactions affect T, for better or worse. One thing for sure, T will be a much smaller company.

Good news is that AT&T will still own 71% stake in CNN. Good and fair reporting.

Since when does T management ever truthfully inform employees about anything, large or small, important or trivial?

Oh, bless your heart. You really don't know T.

Inform the employee first? Not sure which universe do you reside in, employees are the last ones to know. We all hear it from the rumor mills and reporting from other news outlets long before Stankey's "it is better for shareholder" email.

Stankey loves to brag to the media and analysts how just don't get the "strategy". Right, no one gets it until it all fell apart like house of cards.

The only good news is T will not own CNN. What an embarrassment. Not news anymore. Just propaganda mixed in with some news.

New York Times is reporting Jason Kilar didn’t even know until a few days ago and publicly he’s “smiley face” but privately is consulting with lawyers.

Variety has a good article from the Discovery perspective - planned to meet at a golf tournament and meetings went down at the discovery CEO’s house to keep it quiet.

Reality is these are two ivory tower exec friends who got together secretly to come together and solve their problems. AT&T stock price today is back down before we had that “great Q1.”

The new company addresses the fact that AT&T has no idea what it’s doing with WarnerMedia and Kilar pi---d a lot of ppl off in the industry with the same day HBO max lack of communication. However, investors are definitely seeing through the way the company is trying to spin the dividend cut.

All of this is ok to keep quiet from the general public to avoid insider trading but in this case, the traders seem to think it’s typical AT&T bs

Considering they only announced it because it leaked over the weekend, I don't think they had a chance to tell employees first. I'm surprised that it leaked. Would not wanted to be working in Asset Protection right now.

no. It would expose them to insider information. As much as T makes bad decisions, this isn't one of them.
