Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Are people going to be honest in the Survey?

I find people are good at talking on sites like this but when it comes to the survey do they step up and actually be honest and tell it like it is? If we want change I believe we need to give honest feedback and let the dust settle where it will. I have not done mine yet but I plan to be honest and not just be a victim. Yes it’s supposed to be anonymous and that’s a bit of a joke but if enough people give honest feedback they can’t come after everyone. I would strongly suggest we all be straight forward and give constructive feedback on how it’s going. Otherwise they can go along their merry ways and just say the people posting here are a few disgruntled employees pre and post. I’ve made the decision to go for it and lay it out from my point of view. If they don’t like that then please don’t ask for my opinion. That simple. So I would encourage everyone to take this opportunity to have your say vs just posting on here. If they don’t like the results while that’s on them. At least I can say I tried right? and if enough of us do it well maybe they will have to pay attention.

You struck no nerve at all. You are still an employee . This is time for you to change and see the minority and people of colour as also contributing to the growth of the company. You can fire all of them because you can’t stand them or you can keep correcting their spoken English as if you speak better even when English is not your own first language. We know you and hopefully the management will put you in your place soon.

I find it ironic that people are suggesting they lie on a survey about the company, or not do it at all, then they come on here and complain that the company is not doing what they think they should do. Absolutely ridiculous. It’s no wonder ya’ll are a confused mess

Diversity and inclusion is a joke as long as our board and CLT are all middle aged white guys. And for that matter or SVP layer as well. Do what we say not what we do.

I see I've struck a nerve; and let's be clear, diversity and inclusion was brought into the conversation by you, not me. I'm glad you think I'm doing a great job, perhaps that's why I still have one?

But I digress; at the end of the day you are an unpleasant person to engage with and I'm thankful that Cenovus has removed you from the organization. If you're better off as you suggest you'll gladly walk away from this forum onto bigger and better things, right?

Why is the diversity thing hitting a sore point with you? The guilty are always afraid. Pass it on to your leadership since you are actively protecting and doing your job online. At least you can’t fire anyone here for expressing themselves. Be assured you are next on the chopping board. Your type are want to snitch on others to keep your job. You are doing a great job.

And I'm the Pope, see how easy it is to say completely unsubstantiated things and have no way of verifying it?

Before you go defending and ghost bursting. Note I was a member of Cen diversity and Inclusion team. I was only fulfilling my obligations by asking that question and it rubbed of the wrong way. By the way I am not minority.

Be careful HR trolls on the prowl. You know the downer.

I'm only speculating here but what little I know about you makes me feel that your attitude is likely the cause of your release. There is no grand conspiracy re: Inclusion and your raising of the issue seems immaterial. No one wants a downer on a team, especially after a major organization shift like a merger.

The good news is that this is entirely your problem and only you can do anything about it. Best of luck in whatever comes next for you.

Just avoid doing the survey if you can. There is nothing anonymous about it. I got fired because I asked the leadership team their plans about Inclusion and diversity for the planned layoffs. The response I got was termination of appointment. A company as big as Cenovus has only about 10 Black people working in the company. The survey is only for public appeal. Not that the shareholders care about the employees.

You are kidding right.... nothing useful has ever come out of a survey.

HR or who ever administers the survey spins the results so they can give themselves a pat on the back. I've heard leaders say they read every single response, not sure i believe that.

They run a survey every three years or so and nothing ever changes. Once rated in the top 10 worst companies in the world. This is just another complete waste of your time. Don’t waste more than 10 minutes in filling this out. They don’t care. It’s all about optics and appearing to care after X rounds of layoffs.

Well if they don’t want to know then they should not ask. If enough current employees step up and speak the truth then they probably would need to do something about it. Or sit here and whine on this forum and live your work life afraid.

The unfortunate reality is that they are not really anonymous - feedback is provided in sliced and diced ways that let "leaders" isolate where responses likely came from. Be careful if you want to keep your job or have a chance at promotion/good bonus - they don't really want your opinion from past experience.

That’s too bad. I told them what was up and why it sucked at least for me. Guess I might be gone! 😂

Agree with "are you new here". I say lie like a dog. You're not going to change anything, anyway.

Are you new here? There has been dozens of surveys over the years and not once have they done anything with all the feedback, except maybe use it as part of the next layoff
