Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How do you cope in such working conditions?

People experience and see all kinds of things here during working hours: backstabbing, supervisors gossiping, people bickering and many other things that make everyday work unbearable and abnormal. You need to have great mental stability to be able to stay as calm as possible and push through your work day here. How do you manage to stay calm when you have to experience such things every day?

: @OP+1aPK3Z4X, how do I cope with such working conditions?
I ask myself, is this better than not having a roof over my head, a good dependable car, clothes on my back, & food in my stomach?

You have to come in each day and do your job and leave when your shift is over! Do Not be the ASSociate that stays after everyday! Do Not go to other clubs to get them caught up! Get a hobby, take care of yourself and family! Do Not be the ASSociate that never takes PTO, it's there for a reason! You have to use Sam's to make YOUR life better! I bust my tail everyday, but when my shift ends, Sam's gets cut OFF! Family and Self care is #1. People with No life or Family make the best Leads and Managers, because that's all they have! DO NOT be THAT ASSociate...GET A LIFE!

Had a member who wanted one of those heavy sofas that is in one box that is easily over 200 plus pounds.

I was the only one in the hardlines area so I went with the member to see which sofa they wanted. And sure enough it was one of the heavy ones that gets placed on a shelf above shoulder level by a forklift.

I called over the radio for help. Was then told by a manager to just do what we always do tilt the sofa off the shelf onto a cart and I should be able to do it by myself.

After that I then told the member give me a minute while I went and got another associate. I then headed back to receiving and went into the restroom and sat down and started playing Candy Crush.

It turned out a manager was walking around looking at their phone and didn't see the member. The member did see the manager and stopped him and asked about getting the sofa loaded onto a flat cart. The manager called out for help and of course got no answered. The manager then began to call for help by saying the name of every associate who should have been on the floor.

Best part of that whole incident was the manager had to listen to the member who was upset because every-time the member needed help, there was no one around to help the member. And the member would then have to walk around until the member ran into someone with a vest on. To rub a little salt into the manager's wound the sofa was damaged, more than likely by a forklift, so the member was able to purchase a $500 sofa for $300.

And for the cherry on top. The manager did not hear my radio call and the associates that came to help had been up in our breakroom, even though it was the last 2 hours of their shift and all of their breaks should have been completed.

I have been experiencing horrible attitudes from some of the floor partners lately. I know they are understaffed, however there are times I must radio for help with a heavy item or ask for an item to be dropped. Yesterday when I asked for assistance for a driver, all I get are snarky remarks. I am very tired of it. This is why people end up leaving. Everyday is a challenge not to explode right back, but I pull it inside and continue on.

you learn to adapt, ignore and forget that place. Once you clock out you need to get in the habit of not thinking about work. That place breeds that working environment. ALL clubs are like that. You basically are groomed to not care and distrust everyone. Once you have survived a few months there you can probably walk through a burning orphanage and only think about what your going to cook for dinner.
