Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

A little question

This is not a topic of great importance at the moment, but I am interested in whether there is anyone who has moved from a company where he was worse off than here, that is, whether there is anyone who has made great progress by moving to ATT from a worse company? I doubt it.

How about a toll booth operator? Although a lot of states have gone to E-Z Pay, there are still lots that still use real people to collect money. That’s a state job, with all the trappings of a government position, ie., pension, vacation days, OT, retirement savings. Corrections officers.....well similar ‘benefits’...Line repairman for the Metro in a major city (pick one). Amazon fulfillment has lots of jobs....and they pay sorta okay. In South Dakota those agri plants have a lot of jobs, pay is so-so.
I can go on with a list of places and jobs you may prefer over your current employer. I think you should start your search.

Are you kidding? There a lots of companies that are worse. If you're keeping the scope to Telcom and major corporations, perhaps less so, but there's no doubt, you can have awful managers. One friend of mine worked as a graphic artist in a family run printing business. If a mistake was made and made it to the printers, they didn't do a performance plan. They stood the person up in the room with the rest of the employees looking on and scolded them and then sent them home early with no pay. A company I worked for - another small business - had a large open bay for the 25 employees. One day we got up to leave and it was two minutes to the top of the hour. The owner came out and yelled at everyone to get back to work and we did, for two minutes. My sister was fired from AON Insurance after 20 years and having won the Chairman's Award. No vacation pay and no unemployment. She had an employment attorney request her personnel records to identify past successes and to threaten to sue. Then HR overrode her old manager and awarded her both vacation pay and unemployment compensation. (Ultimately her manager was fired.) T has had good benefits, vacation days and other benefits. Plus 401k plans with matching. Other companies often do not match.

The other companies were worse because of the lower pay. All the other bu-----t is the same everywhere, but I'll take the pay they got here.

nope - been to two companies since I left and they were light years ahead of att and total opposite culturally. they were both a pleasure to work for and would go back to them in a second. you could not get me to go back to att if it was the last company on earth.

att is a cesspool and is so much worse than other companies it isn't even funny.
people are so much nicer at other companies - they are actually happy and I haven't heard the work layoff since i left att. they way they lay people just is not right and know of no other company that does it like att.

I am unhappy so I will find another way of complaining about my company. Just keep complaining and I think I will feel better about myself.
