Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T TV -- RIP

Hey, remember in 2019 when Stink and the c-suite were telling us all how atttv would be the savior for the company's video business, and how they poured tens of millions of dollars into creating, promoting, and launching it -- money that could have been used to help fix some of the problems with DTV and Uverse?

Gee ... who on earth could have predicted that a service dependent on gigabit broadband would have problems? I mean, just because fiber isn't available to most areas (including NYC or LA), and just because the service itself was a total mutt shouldn't have mattered. It was Stink's project, and the man knows from video, entertainment, movies, and stuff!

Chalk up yet another miserable failure for Stink & crew.

Sigh. Wouldn't it be something if T's so-called 'leadership' were held to the same standard of performance that everyone else at the company was?

When it finally showed up, it was actually a pretty good product. Cable with mobility, without the need for professional install. But it could have been a U-verse product years earlier without buying Directv, broadening the potential footprint for sales without the meandering road taken to get there.

PacBell retired their TV offer some 20 years ago because it was “ahead of its time.”

hmm... AT&T TV streaming product works fine for me and does not require gigbit service as was stated earlier.

I remember Randall preaching to us that we have to buy DTV because "we need to get to scale in video".

Anyone who believes a word emanating from the c-suite is a fool

att and senior management cannot get out of their own way and just continue to fail while pouring money down the toilet and the employees get the brunt end of the results.

how long will stank have to keep trying failures and still be employed. but hey as he always it is better to try and fail than to have tried at all but hey who cares when the employees pay the cost.

Stinky's only standard is that he get paid mega-bucks while no one else can question his genius decisions. If you disagree, show yourself the door, pleb.

@bvw

It's going to be DTV again anyway next month. They've started porting our e-mails back to DTV. No more AT&T emails, yay.

What I love is managers are pushing sales and loyalty reps to sell ATT TV to customer's with other companies internet service. And don't just mention HBO Max, now we have to walk customers through the setup process to activate the service.

There was DirectTV Now, A&T TV Now, AT&T TV, AT&T Watch TV, who know how many others. Nobody knew what anyone was talking about when you said any of them.

Typical marketing disconnect. Unfortunately anyone who had any of them got turned off to all the others. No wonder they are putting the effort into the over priced HBO Max. At least it doesn't have the "AT&T" name in it. Doesn't mean it will be successful at the price but at least it might fool some people.

I like how now it’s the exact same thing as DTV Now with a different name and higher prices.
