Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Relevance of HR's in Oracle

Its been 10 years since I talked to an HR in Oracle. Are the HRs irrelevant in Oracle, that too during the current situation with on going covid mayhem.

If managers can take all the decisions without any prejudice on the employees what's the use of HR in a company like Oracle.

Also, I can notice leave policy during covid and other assistance coming forward mainly when managers or their relatives got affected.

So workers are considered as slaves here?

HR is not your friend at Oracle. If you have a legitimate grievance with your boss, and take it to HR. They will investigate. If they actually side with you (rare) they'll turn the problem over to your bosses boss for remediation. Problem is collusion - been with Oracle a very long time. I have never seen anyone disciplined by their boss for dealing with a problem employee (which is you, BTW). There is literally no upside.

At Oracle, ANY (and I mean ANY) contact to you from HR is a bad thing.

Not just Oracle, Friend, you can say that about plenty of places. They are the foxes guarding the h-nhouse.

Don't bother with HR. I told them one employee was the manager's girlfriend. There response was no, that can't be, it's against Oracle policy. Nothing done.

Don't bother.

We all know the human in Human Resources doesn’t exist. Sad. That man had no shot after being bullied.

At Oracle, ANY (and I mean ANY) contact to you from HR is a bad thing. A very bad thing. You really should never have to contact HR about anything while employed with the company, nor should they contact you unless something is badly wrong.

I went a full decade at Oracle and never once ever interacted with anyone from HR. Even when I left I dealt with non-HR people and processes for exit paperwork, returning laptop, etc. never heard a peep from HR and even the exit survey was online.

A bully obviously can get a job at Oracle!

We're doing an internal survey and this will be kept completely anonymous.

ROTFLMAO! Survey on what? Employee job satisfaction?!?

I tried to get help from HR once when dealing with a bully. Big mistake - I was told that I should resolve all issues by talking directly to the bully. I now understand that I should not expect anything from HR. HR does not have your back, just like Oracle does not have your back.

HR at Oracle is a joke. They actually troll here cause they have nothing to do. As for them approving raises someone said. Not buying it. I think each group shuts the raises down cause they’re cheap cucks.

"What's the use of HR in a company like Oracle."

I work at Oracle. HR contacted me after I told my manager that I had COVID. They told me that I did not need to charge my time to sick leave or vacation. Your complaint does not seem to be justified.

On the other hand, my wife and I own a couple of small businesses and I find it hard to find a use for "HR" in general.

You are forgetting another very important function of HR. They are there to stop my foolish desire to give my hard working folks either a promotion or a raise!

their literal job description is to protect company from you.

That is exactly it. HR is not your friend. They are Company secret police and are not to be trusted under any circumstance. This is true for any company.

You're free to leave at any time, what slaves you're talking about?

10 years should be enough to understand that HR is not your friend, their literal job description is to protect company from you.

HR job is to keep the company from being sued. Yeah, they failed there too.
